What have I missed out on in the past 2-3 years?

Finally getting a rig that can play games decently after 2 or 3 years and need to know what I just have to play!

Only thing I've been playing, albeit not in its glory is the trackmania series. Am into Racing, RTS, FPS and most genres apart from 3rd person shooters like GRAW which I absolutly cannot stand. I also hate Oblivion.

My current list is
Steam games (got a press account, so games are free. Not lieing, can provide proof if you like)
Far Cry
Rise of Legends (I adored Rise of Nations)
Supreme commander
Halo
Defcon
Sam and Max

Probably looking to get one MMO subscribtion game, and I would prefer it not to be a draggy hack and slash, like WoW. Currently looking heavily at EVE.

Any more suggestions?

Call of duty 2 - best team based online game
Battlefield 2 / 2142 - best muckabout online game
Company of Heroes - best rts
Quake 4 - best duel game
Civilization IV - best turn based game
Live for Speed - best racing game

Play Half Life 2 and its various mods, the source games are like a standard for PC gaming (at least, FPS's). There's also World of Warcraft, which is a phenomenom in itself. Battlefield 2/2142 is also one of the best teamplay games around.

I assume its something like Account Status: Press ? or something.

Anyway, how did you get it? Write for some magazine/work for some hardware company?

Doesn't say account status press, just have like, the entire library ready to install. Hate to needlessly advertize but I own britishgaming.co.uk. Don't do much frontend work, although that is gonna change soon, with new rig will be reviewing a lot of PC games. If theres a place where I can see the account status, I'll do a screeny of that. But heres a screeny of the list of games which strangely misses the fantastic bookworm adventures! Also shows the email from doug which includes the press key (edited out of course).



gweh, messed up my pasting a bit there; still shows the general info tho :P
 
ep2s okay, portal is okay too, Takes about 5 hours to complete them both. (4hrs for ep2, 1hr for portal)
 
just get team fortress 2 and forget the rest :p

On a more serious note start with Far Cry you won't be dissappointed then the Half-life 2/epi1+2 then some of the others mentioned.

Just leave the likes of Css and DODS last ;)

Otherwise you wont bother/find time for the rest :D
 
Episode 2 is seriously the best mod out for the source engine, Rather than bosses it has great sequences that get you into the game and become difficult and engaging, i suppose they are a bit like bosses but i dont see them like that.

but get Knights of the old republic really good game so is the second one.

Like what? The only slightly actiony bit was when that stalker bit at the end, Everything else felt like a crowbar simulator and not a very good one at that.

episode 2 ain't a mod ;)
 
Another good online team-based fps is ET:QW.

A good game you missed out on is Condemned: Criminal Origins. The last 2 tomb raiders not been bad.

Just got to say, I find it rather amusing that someone who owns a site britishgaming.co.uk is coming here to find out what to play... just seems people should eb going there to figure out what to play.
