Hi, i have recently purchased a 46" sony Bravia tv and attached my Virgin media box to it VIA HDMI but noticed that on any other channel than the HD bbc channel the picture us not great, it is blocky and doesnt seem to handle motion very well, this is a bummer as it puts me off watching the rugby, is there some setting i need to adjust to sort it?

thanks

SD stuff will always look slighty iffy on a HDTV, saying that we have V+ going via HDMI to a lesser brand 32" HDTV and everything looks fine on that. Slightly rougher than a CRT TV, but no real issues with blockiness even on lesser cable channels. Proper HD stuff of course looks fab.

There's a definite degree of 'getting used to it' but its hard to know if you have a genuine issue without knowing exactly what the picture looks like.

Reduce sharpness too. And any picture processing, auto contrast, basically everything.
HD channels should look great. I've watched SD Freeview on a 1080p and it looks good, if the channel bitrate is high.
