I feel sorry for the family, and it is tragic for the kid...but banning pen lids? The world is going potty.
Why is it unreasonable? This happened when I was a kid and as a result most pen tops now have holes in them. We don't need pen tops either, there are those clicky pens as an alternative. If banning pen tops saves just one life then it's worth it imo.
Nice one, calling a dead kid an idiot![]()
As said, saving just ONE life would make it worthwhile.
Why not. People who die of Asbestoses are idiots for not wearing masks. Natural selection at work.
And many of the people died after years of exposure when the risks weren't known or they weren't told ...... that hardly makes them idiots, more victims.
Oh dear..
Knives and scissors
Household chemicals
All hard surfaces (including roads and buildings)
Buildings more than 10' high
Cars
Bicycles
Stepladders
Garden tools and machinery
Electricity
Trees
Any flammable item, gases and flammable liquids
Want to ban all of those too?

Lets face it most things have caused deaths over the years, we don't need bathroom rugs, so maybe we should ban those as well. Cookers are much more dangerous the microwave ovens, unless you're paranoid about radiation, so lets have a battle royale over which we should ban. Gas hobs just have to go, hot plates arer fine and much safer. Lets get rid of motorbike, since cars do the job and are much safer.
People will find new and stupid ways to die no matter how much stuff we ban.
Why can't people just relise this is evolution and get on with it.

Saving one life worth it? I heartily think not
If it means that much, go and donate a hundred quid to charity. That will probably save a few lives, and much easier than introducing a ban on lids.
*disclaimer* This post may seem slightly...cold, but my god...get some perspective.
