So orange box is out this Friday coming ( 19th ), so who's getting it and who's fired up for TF2?.

And if we want to arrange any games etc ........ we could post gamertags in here.

well valve are taking care of the porting duties for the 360 version so in opposite I am assured it will be an excellent version

Having now played Orange Box with a 360 controller on my PC I am going to say one thing:

It's not going to be pretty.

For those with it on the PC already and a 360 wired controller, the Orange Box games fully support the 360 controller, with the controls of the console versions. Give it a whirl and you'll see what I mean. The single player games with the exception of Portal ain't so bad, but TF2 is hell.

its coming out on PS3 as well you know :p but yeah i agree with Kreeeee, i have doubts about its translation to consoles

I won't have my new ps3 for another month or so and an EA development team are doing the ps3 port so I have more worries for that version than the 360 version

Yeh TF2 is Hell but surely if you think you'll only be facing other people with 360 controllers not like everyone else has Mouse n Keyboard :D Then its not going to be Hell, its gonna be like playing the single player games..

Only concern I have on the 360 version is the servers.

I've heard its quite laggy on the 360 version makes me glad I brought the PC Orange box, Also I've seen one created map so far was Rats never tried it but what will 360 n PS3 be like with new maps surely you'll have to pay for new maps which is bit of a bummer

Is it a port though? I mean sure textures, maps etc are the same but was the PC the lead platform or did they all have teams working on building the games up? Of course PC was lead platform... I'm no good at trying to explain this :p

I'm just thinking that it shouldn't be that bad. It's not like they have taken a pc game and just ported it over so it works on a gamepad. They must have tweaked it so it feels ok to play.

It'll play differently on the 360 though I'd imagine as it'll be programmed for the controller.

You can't plug the controller into the PC and expect a direct comparison.

First off the number of players per game is severely limited in the 360 version and there's a lot of lag apparently, no dedicated servers.

I can't imagine how this is going to play with a pad, pretty badly I would have thought. Imagine trying to hit a scout that is sprinting around and double jumping all over the place, it'll be impossible with a controller.

It's programmed properly for the PC so I doubt it's much different on the 360, however on PC you can't turn auto aim on.

Well for those without a gaming pc, all these comparisons with the pc version are mute.

So yet again is anyone getting the orange box for the 360 and looking forward to playing TF2?

It's just a matter of practice and getting used to the pad controls, this is something that can be overcome.

Not necessarily. They'd have to implement huge auto aim (ala halo series) for it to work and if the controls are poor you can't just get used to them.
