I bought Dead Rising a few days ago and so far I'm really enjoying it. Only problem is that I keep getting my backside kicked when I try to take on one of the "boss" characters. I know that I will need to keep leveling up my character but what does he need to be at before I have a realistic chance of playing through the 72 hour mode rather than just killing lots of zombies in more creative ways?

Thanks :)

As you replay and start on higher levels bosses will get easier and easier. By 16/17 for example the convicts are quite easy.

Edit. Which boss is it? And you can probably 'finish' the game in your 30s but ideally you'll be in the 40s to go for Saint (save everyone).

I played through the game and didnt really kill the bosses, just did the main story line.

If you do this then you level up your character quite a bit, then the next play through will be much easier to tackle the bosses.

I found that when I died and restarted at level 11 that was enough for me to finish the game, I never needed to restart from then.

Which bosses are giving you trouble?

Well I'm now up to level 13. I have to admit to cheating a little bit and just rescuing the old couple off the top of the building for PP and also taking a photo of them embracing for more PP. Then I would let a zombie kill me off and I would start again.

I have got as far as the outdoor bit where the convicts in the 4x4 are chasing me but they killed me off pretty easily with their tripod mounted gun. I was also having problems with the clown that juggles chainsaws before but now I know it's not part of the main storyline I don't bother with him anymore, at least not until I've leveled up a bit more.

You really need to kill Adam the Clown, for 2 reasons. 1 - by doing so you rescue a security guard who will open up a pathway in the bathroom to give you a shortcut from Paradise Plaza to Wonderland Plaza. 2 - after you kill Adam you'll be able to use the mini chainsaws he uses, which is easily the best melee weapon in the game (you can kill most bosses in 3 hits or less).

Adam really is quite easy to kill. You should notice on the upper level of Wonderland Plaza there are several zombie policemen with guns. Stock up on these guns before you fight Adam. When you do fight him, simply keep your distance, and when he starts blowing up the balloon, shoot it so it bursts in his face. It'll stun him briefly giving you a chance to fire off a few rounds in his face. Rinse and repeat until he's dead :)

So once I've beaten him I need to find somewhere to save I suppose. I've got to say the save game facility is a bit frustrating at times but I guess it does add to the tension. I've not really bothered saving my game much so far, I'm just building up my PP so I can level up but if you think I should be at a level now where I can finish the game then I'll start trying to get through the 72 hours.

After the rugby of course!

Thanks for the tips Davey, nice to see you back :)

i just did the underground carpark zombie run and got the zombie genocider award at the same time too while gaining loads of levels at the same time, took a few hours though.

my weapons of choice are the scythe, and believe it or not the plain rock (i love ploughing it into zombie skull lol)

ive avoided the bosses at the moment.. but i feel like im gonna go take em on. girlfriend is watching a damn film though >_<

Or, if you have followed my guide, when you fight adam the clown you can have any of the following: two Uzis, A shogun, Samurai sword. I alwasy find a combination of the uzi and shotgun works best. A save point is literally 5 seconds away from where you fight adam - try the WC on the lower level.

There a video on youtube called something like the "zombie genocide efficiency demo". Basically, follow the route shown and its easily poss to reach level 45 plus before the helicopter arrives.

When you've beaten him the security guard will take you to the toilet to open the shortcut, so you can save then :)

Thanks, great to be back :)

Problem is that the game is like God mode with the chain saws. It gets really boring using the same things so I switch to a katana or bladed weap if I do play.

just ordered myself Dead Rising, gunna get into it when im home hopefully.

Question though is it quite a frustrating game? I can get quite annoyed at things easily, however I found the demo quite amusing just going around throwing stuff at the zombies etc :\

Once you realise it's ok to die and restart a few times to begin with whilst you get your bearings and level you'll be fine. If you're all serious and try to save everyone and explore everything you'll soon get frustrated.

So... play for fun to start with. Take lots of pictures, talk to everyone, try for some of the fun achievements, find the save points and take on a boss or two and don't fret when you reach what you feel is a wall and have to restart.
