This seems a bit high to me.

On Prime 95 I hit 72 - 74C. I think my case fans (stock ones with th Akasa case) need a bit more umph and so have gone for some Scyth S FLEX 1600 fans to get some air blasting through.

The case ceiling, above the CPU gets quite warm. This is not right in my opinion.

Anyone want to share some opinions?

Sounds a bit toasty, definetly do with a top exhaust fan on your case like the Antec P182, this is one reason I changed my Eclipse to the Antec.

As in signature - a Akasa Eclipse 62. Great case.

Only using the thermal grease that came with the Zalman cooler.

When I put my hand in the case it feels like not much air is moving from the stock fans. I am going to change them for more powerful specialist case fans.

I would say the cpu cooler isn't up to scratch not the case, sitting here with eclipse case 6420 @ 3.4 current idle is 24c load 45c 8800 gts is 50c.
Difference is i have 2 x akasa ambers in case and a tuniq tower with arctic silver 5.I'd sell on the 9700 and get a tuniq shouldn't cost you too much bound to get £20 for the 9700.
Other people have quads in eclipses but with tuniqs and thermalright 120's and have low temps so i am definitely pointing the finger at the zalman.
You really need a top rated cpu cooler to get the best out of those quads, i agree about the psu as mine is barely warm on the top of the case if anything it's cold.

Im running an AMD 6000+ currently at 3.12Ghz. Idles at 40dg and pushes about 55dg on Prime95. Just ordered an Arctic Freezer pro from here though and so expect those temperatures to drop a bit once it's been installed?
Heard theyre good and can make up to 15dg difference.

Thanks for the thoughts.

I got the Zalman since it gets some really great reviews. I am surprised by what you guys say. I will try the case fans first and see where I go from there. If it's still too warm I will replace the Zalman for a Tuniq.

Cheers, Steve

well ive got mine at 3.3 and the tuniq on low settings keeps it idle at 40 and prime it goes to 60,so really your not going to see much difference changing to the tuniq, thats IMO.p.s even when turned up full it idles at 38 so not much difference and thats with my side panel of,and they are like jet engines when on full

c64 ive had it of 2 times and used mx2 on it and thats the best it will do,should have just went for a artic freezer when i was going to,plus got 1.39 going through it if that makes any more difference

why don't you try Noctua u12f its huge but keeps mine overclocked real cool ,41 c on low fan setting during intense gaming ! Its wone loads of awards and is nice and quite even on max !

I've got one of these Zalman 9700's and i dont recommend them for quads, i've got my q6600 g0 at 450mhz x8 for 3.6ghz with 1.45v.

After a few hours of small fft's the cpu gets up to 75c (78c before i reseated it) and this is with three large case fans.

I should add that this is with my 8800 being pushed to its highest temperature of 77c, so this adds about 5c to my cpu temps.

Probably shouldnt be getting 75 or higher but it wont do anything to your cpu at those temp, there fine for load!
