Call of duty 4 demo out today?!

Not sure why a lot of people are complaining that it's an update of CoD2. That's sort of the point, isn't it?

Not when IW starts doing interviews stating they'd been working on it from scratch since before CoD2's release. The annoying thing is that they still voices from CoD2, they didn't even bother changing them.

What I mean is that if you are a fan of the series you would expect them to build on the previous games but retain the key selling points. One of these is the cinematic immersion, which, for obvious reasons, is tied with linear gameplay.

Otherwise, it's a new setting in a new period with new weapons, new vehicles for SP and a new storyline. I was very critical of CoD2 but I think this game is a very good sequel that keeps the good stuff and improves on the bad stuff.

erm there is rag doll in COD4 infact if i remember theres a setting for it in the options....

and at the end where the helicopter blows the building up i saw 1 of the enemys hanging by his lag and swinging arround from the wall lol, then he finaly fell to the floor.

oh and i too LOVED IT! and will be buying this for sure.

The engine is incredible in that it flies along and looks great at the same time. Not sure whether I will be getting it as it so totally unrealistic. It's an forever spawning shooting gallery with out any strategic element. It is a matter of rushing forward to some invisible line or objective and the spawning stops. The weapons also sound an feel powerless. I have had real experience with assault rifles and these feel like air guns.

It may however be worthwhile getting for the multi-player.

Seen that also and also seen 2 go flying through the air from that building. :D

Whenever i try to change the res the game just c2d's??

Any ideas?

Yeah, happens with me too. Go into Activision > CoD4 > Players > Profiles > "Playername" > Config (open with wordpad) and use the "Find" tool to search for r_mode and simply put that to whatever res you want. Then save, and voila :)

Just tried this, runs like a dream, maxed out 1280x1024, bloody flys. :D

Not a bad game, just found it annyong when i entered that building and had to use night vision, when shooting the enemy, my own troops would walk in front of me so i ended up shooting the stupid ***** as well. :(

This my view on Cod 4 i dont like it theres to much going on and just does not seem real at all its to like arcade. to much background sounds over takes everything:(

had a few blasts on this over the past few days and i really enjoyed it plus it runs absolutely great, all settings on highest @1680x1050.

I did it on the hardest setting last night and I liked it a lot too!

I'll be buying it I think, mp should be good I think!

I like COD2 aswell

Anyone know what engine its using? Looks like another modified Quake III. The console commands are the same, and it looks the same, albeit the textures are better.

I did find the sounds which were taken from COD2 a bit, how can I say...lazy.

But really how long can they keep pushing out the QIII engine.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will run on a proprietary engine, and has next generation features such as true world-dynamic lighting, bloom effects, dynamic shadows and depth-of-field. "Bullet Penetration" is calculated by the engine, taking into account things such as surface type and entity thickness. Certain objects, such as cars, will be destructible (it should be noted that the environments are still indestructible). This makes distinguishing cover from concealment important, as meager protection such as wooden fences, thin walls and such will no longer provide sufficient protection. The bullet's speed and stopping power will be decreased after penetrating an object, and this decrease is calculated realistically depending on the thickness and surface of the object penetrated. The game also makes use of a physics engine, which was not implemented in previous Call of Duty titles for the PC. Death Animations are a combination of pre-set animations and ragdoll physics. Some mistook the game's graphics to be DirectX 10 based, but it is stated that the graphics use DirectX 9.

silly question but i installed the demo and set the resolution too high and my tv won't recognize it, i was hoping that it would reset back to the original settings if i left it for a few seconds but it didn't, now whenever i start the demo i can't see anything and i can't change the resolution.

I would reinstall but i deleted the installation file!
