Stupid me didn't do up the lid properly and as a result about 750ml of Castrols finest ended up all over my boot carpet. The carpet thing is a typical Jap invention where it's flimsy and easily removable.

Anyway I've scrubbed it and I can still smell the oil. I tried carpet cleaner with a stiffish brush and a hose pipe and that didn't work so I tried washing up and scrubbing it with a nail brush in the shower. That didn't work either.

Because my car is a Jap import it will probably cost about £200 for a new one so what the best way of cleaning it?

I'd have thought the oil will be soaked into it, short of trying the washing machine I'd say get a new one really.

Even it is a pain in the bum to get one, and costly...or get some car carpet from somewhere like Halfrauds and cut/make a new one. :)

Do not put the carpet in the washing machine with that much oil soaked in, It will screw up your machine for a long time after I would have thought
