Now this could be the first time a demo for a demo has ever been released as GT Channel is reporting Sony will offer the Gran Turismo 5: Prologue demo free directly from the PlayStation Store beginning Oct. 20.

The demo will likely be the same as the one shown at Tokyo Game Show, which featured 16 vehicles and three tracks. You might remember Sony removed Gran Turismo HD from the PS Store in late September, paving the way for GT 5: Prologue.

Unless something else swoops down to unseat it, GT5: Prologue will be the most expensive demo ever at about $43 for the disc version and about $39 from the PS Store.

Hope it's better than GT:HD, I really didn't roll with that.

I loved GT:HD, which is wierd considering it was one track, but it was the first GT game I enjoyed playing. So looking forward to this

and look at the amount of people who paid (Fileplanet) just so they could get their hands on a Beta (Crysis) let alone a full demo!

V1N.

Paying for a demo

The demo is free, you pay for GT5 prologue because its not a demo as such, GT4 prologue was about £20 and doesnt feature half of what GT5 prologue will. Dont know many other console racing games that offer 16 player online racers or look as good.

So its a butter up for the lack of Sony being able to release GT5 in a reasonable time. How long has this game been in development?

I don't get it... are they trying to say GT:HD was a demo of GT5:P? or they are releasing a free demo of Prologue?

Is it Oct 20th for all regions or just Japan?

GT:HD was a technology demo, based on Gran Turismo 4. It was nothing more than a demonstration to try and help the PS3s early image problems, and draw back the PlayStation faithful.

GT5: Prologue is a taster for GT5, and is Sonys way of cashing in on those too impatient to wait for the full thing. They are releasing a free demo of Prologue to try and sweeten the fanbase after initially saying the game would be free, then deciding to charge for it.

Let's see how much it is before you make such claims, 5 tracks, 40 cars and 16 ppl mp sounds pretty good to me. It's not Microsoft have never cashed in is it and 360 fans seem happy with it.

Could you give it a rest. People are discussing GT: Prologue; why you feel the constant need to criticise MS and XBLA I've no idea.

No worse than paying for half the crap on XBLA
then this. I've really no idea what point you're trying to make? ".It's not [like] Microsoft have never cashed in is it and 360 fans seem happy with it." All 360 fans? Any cash-ins in particular?

The only two heavily overpriced item I can remember was Lumines Live! and the '360' community came down like a ton of bricks on MS for it.

I came into this thread to see what all the fuss is about as I'm a fan of some 360 racers but have never really got into a GT game. GT:HD always impressed me visually but I read so many critical reports I'm sitting on the fence with prologue. And my 2p is $40 for 5 tracks does seem a tad cheeky.

so this will be a free demo taster of a paid demo taster thats nearly full price from a full priced game due out end of 08.

nice
Pretty much yeah, but it's free and if GT5:Prologue has 5 tracks, 40 cars and 16 people online play that alone is about the same as Motorstorm.

*Cough* PGR4 *Cough*

Didnt say none look as good, said not many look as good, PGR4 looks good (especially in the rain) but the car models are not quite as nice IMO. The environments may be better in PGR4, but i dont normally drive about a race track looking at how pretty the trees are or how nice a building looks. Also GT5 is 1080p at 60 FPS, so PD have stated so it will feel nice and smooth. Both PGR4 and GT5 stand out in the graphics dept, PGR4 is a great game, GT5P looks like it will a be a great taster of GT5.
