Cooking foobars?

I did that except I wasn't looking and instead of grabbing the baking tray I grabbed the grill element in my electric oven which must have been over 200 degrees at the time. That hurt a bit.

OW!

My toes curled at reading that!

Is your hand ok? did it leave a mark or anything?

When I was rather young and tried to make a cup of tea for my mum and dad for the first time EVAR I put the teabag in the kettle instead of the teapot/cups =/.

I like to think I'm great at making tea now :D

I once put something to defrost in the microwave, but I must have selected full power rather than defrost.
I can't remember what it was now, but I do remember that it was wrapped in cling film. Several minutes later I heard my housemate shouting from the kitchen; I walked in and found the place thick with yellow smoke where the cling film had melted.

The microwave itself was almost black inside and got chucked away as it stank of burnt plastic.

my only cooking foobars is when I forget I have stuff on. Doesn't happen much anymore. But I've set bacon on fire numerous times under the grill. Whilst playing Soldier of fortune.

That game wasn't good for the smoke alarm. Although being under the grill, meant nothing else could cathc fire.

Or forgetting the rice was on and come back to black rice and no water.

reminds me of the time I used the microwave, but couldn't find the cover to the pyrex dish I normally used for peas et al. So I used a saucepan lid instead, not thinking about the fact that it had a metal handle surrounded by plastic. Left it in there for a couple of minutes before starting to smell something weird. Opened the microwave to find a bit of smoke pouring out and a completely melted handle in a splodge.

I didn't eat the food :(.

Also my housemate once managed to set popcorn on fire in the microwave.. Whole of downstairs was filled with smoke for a while. he claims he followed the instructions

When I was a teenager I stupidly put milk in the soda stream.

On releasing the handle the whole machine exploded launching fizzy milk within a 10 foot radius. The smell after a few days was special, my mother was not a happy lady :( :p

EDIT: Oh and I almost burnt the house down making cheese on toast in the toaster
