Menzies Campbell To Quit ?

As Joe voter with no allegiance to any party, I can see why. I've seen and heard next to nothing from him and the Lib Dems since he took the helm.

Yep seems only reasonable if there isn't an election this year, that was the only real reason he was still in the job.

Jokester

I think he was the wrong man for the job to start with! I hope they give Charles Kennedy another shot as they enjoyed nothing but sucess under his leadership.

Yup - he's gone with immediate effect.

I'm inclined to agree that he wasn't the right man (or at least was too old) for the job, though perhaps he did give the party some momentum (whether that's in the right or wrong direction, I'll leave to the rest of you).

He was the Liberals most successful leader in about 80 years as I recall.

I have never doubted Sir Ming's integrity but he is not a party leader and certainly not a man to elevate the Liberal Democrats. His stance on green issues was commedable but when it comes to foreign policy and defence, I would not sleep well at night.

Resigned as of now. Probably was a bit too old for the job and they haven't been making many headlines in the last few months.

Financially, my family (household) would be much, much worse off under Lib Dem rule. Their policies of taxing the "rich" (aka people who have bothered to work hard for promotions to enjoy later life) and their proposed taxing of £70 per carbon atom emitted, including farts, doesn't really appeal to me.

*post may contain invalid information. It's just the picture I get from them every time they pop in to the news and moan about something.

My money is on Chris Huhne picking the position of leader of the Lib Dems, he's the up and coming Dave Cameron-a-like and came a close 2nd in the last leadership contest.

Good riddance to him. I'm glad the Lib Dems finally saw sense. That guy was a huge waste of space and has done nothing for the party whatsoever.

Perhaps the Lib Dems will actually regain some fiscal responsibility now... well as long as they don't take kennedy back.

I think Menzies Campbell has a lot of integrity but not enough of a 'presence' or perhaps dynamism to lead the party onto much success. Seeing who is the next leader should be interesting anyway. :)
