Don't get me wrong, I feel for their families. It's just that there are so many screwed up things that happen, many of which are much worse than those mentioned and the majority of which we will never hear of.

Yeah but not hearing about them and therefore not having sympathy (for those affected by unreported crimes) is different from laughing when hearing about such things.
