Just about to pick up my Q6600 tomorrow I'm already planning my first overclock :D I'm going to try 400*8.

Question is how many Volts should I give her, and what sort of temps idle and under load should I keep my eye out for?

So it would be appreciated if you guys can tell me how you've got yours running.

Thanks

On my Ip35pro - 1.34 vcore is sufficient for that speed, with load temps at 65 and idle at 40. Try not to go over 71c if the Q6600 is a GO version.

Im just about to get mine tomorrow too, heres my cart.

Well the plan was to wait for the release of the new cards soon.

But im not sure i can wait, whats your advice

Personally I wouldnt wait, people spend most of there time waiting for new hardware to be released, then their not happy with the reviews so continue waiting for the next best thing.
As vodafone say "The futures NOW"

TBH gfx wise if i was in your position littledave i would go for the 2900pro as looks pretty good for the money, can run at 2900xt speeds, and am a bit of an ATi fanboi so like to support them.

if the RV670 lives up to the hype that it'll be just under 8800GTX performance at midrange price, then THAT is worth waiting for.

Otherwise its kinda like splashing out £££ of a 7950 or X1950 when the 8xxx series were out the next month.

Mine maxxes out at 3.2ghz although it could be down to the motherboard. For that speed it's running 8x400mhz, 1.35v vcore, 20/21/21/21 idle and 37/38/38/39 load while running Prime/Orthos. When gaming it never exceeds 32 degrees. GPU and NB in the same loop but my rad is in a window and the window's open and it's not very warm up here.

could well be your ram, i have the same ram at the same speeds and cant go further than 3.2 without errors on booting. asus p5b-d (965 chipset)

along saying that i havnt tried to go higher atm, im changing the board so i could well be getting 3.2+, dont know how hard it will be to do on air though, we'll see!

Definately not the ram as i have had it up to 974mhz with the timings slackend to 5-5-5-12. :D For some reason the bloody thing does'nt like volts. It refuses to boot with more than 1.375v vcore. My 4300 @3.4ghz was stable with 1.45v vcore. It's really bugging me too. Might have to buy a P35 and see if it makes a difference.
