Top Gear in trouble, again.

Knives and guns are illegal too .... try putting some of your vociferous energy into lobbying against that, or are pipe smokers such a real threat to the nation ?

In this day and age I would't be suprised if the government had a specific unit tasked to fight pipe crime.

As childish as it sounds I would consider taking up smoking just to p*** her off. I really cannot stand such a fuss over such a trivial matter.

thankyou for putting into words my exact thoughts on the matter. So much time, money and effort wasted on this ridiculous draconian law.

Load of crap tbh.

I'm really quite heavily anti-smoking, however I don't believe in the smoking ban as it is.

Pubs already provided non-smoking areas where non-smokers could go if they didn't want to breathe the smoke. But that's not good enough.

It should be "if you don't like the smoke, take your business elsewhere" not "if you don't like the smoke let's throw all the smokers outside".

This is what happens when you let pen-pushers run a country.

Load of rubbish! I bet the cretins who complained only watch the show to give them something to complain about in their miserable, sad little lives! No doubt they'll turn out to be the same pathetic individuals who complain about 4x4 cars too!

After lighting up pipes, live on TV, in an enclosed public area.

I wonder if anyone in the studio actually complained? I actually quite like the smell of pipe tobacco!

I really wandered about whether that was legal or not while they were doing. I bet Ofcom received complaints from people who are bitter about the ban.

It wasn't tobacco, it was some herbal stuff... So it can't be against the law.;)

The BBC said they had received a number of complaints from viewers but initially claimed they had not broken the law because the presenters had smoked a herbal honey mixture and not tobacco.

But the embarrassed broadcaster was forced to backtrack after being told it is illegal to light anything that is capable of being smoked in a workplace.

Don't get me wrong Skii, I am a non smoker and I personally enjoy not having to breathe passive smoke and end up reeking of tab smoke so from that viewpoint I think the smoking ban is very good.

My beef is when a colossal fuss is kicked up for something so bloody trivial. They lit a pipe ..... so ? Is it really worth all that fuss ? It seems that Posh's new hairdo and flouting the smoking ban always seem to hog the headlines these days.

How come nobody complains when actors on a TV show smoke when on set because the character is a smoker? Yet, for some reason, they decide to crawl out of their dark little holes as soon as Clarkson & Co. spark up a herbal pipe!

I remember thinking to myself while they were doing it "Surely thats illegal".... But seriously, there are more important things to worry about in this world.

Oh good god - if they have a fine to pay - then something utterly crap should be shelved as a result, I can think of many examples other than that stupid Saturday night ballroom dancing show.

Top Gear's one of the few programs that ensures I'm happy to pay a license fee. (MOTD, BBC website, Radio 1, Planet Earth etc, Heroes)

Rules are made to be broken. I try and brake the law at least once a day.

Heck today i let my dog crap on someone's nice shiny flower bed. I'm kinda suprised he hasnt made a post on here yet.....

Nope, I cannot choose which laws to obey and which to break, no matter how much a particular law annoys **** out of me.

Sorry, I don't believe you, there is not one person in this PC infested land that hasn't broken the law. You are telling me you don't speed, ever?
