ITV news claim 2 glasses of wine is too much

Surely if the news was as "corporate" as you suggest, they would tell you to buy more wine?

Not really. The corporate news is designed to put you into a state of fear and confusion and nothing does that better than 30 plus minutes of warnings a day.

I call shenanigans on this!

I usually consume 3-4 pints followed by 2-3 generous glasses of wine each day. More at weekends.

I combine this with a healthy, varied diet.

I also smoke about 20 cigarettes a day.

I rarely exercise more than walking to tube and back for work.

I'm in good shape, have good stamina, am in good health (rarely ill) and if anything am slightly below normal weight (6' tall, about 11 stone).

Stuff that in your pipe and smoke it :p

are you under 30 though?, most people's youth will allow them to drink/smoke eat what they want till they are around 30 where upon in creeps the belly and the lack of stamina :p

*shrug* It's you who'll be needing a heart bypass at 45, not me. Puff and drink away matey.

I drink 4 cans of lager every night! Oh well, i don't want to be here when i can't wipe my own backside anyway.

These are all general "guidelines" anyway. They are not true across the board of the population as different people react differently, or can cope with greater/lesser amounts of alcohol. I nearly always have a glass of wine in the evening - my cholesterol is in perfect control, I'm in fantastic physical health, I sleep well, I eat well and my liver and kidneys are working well too.

It's binge drinking that causes issues to your body, not an insignificant amount of alcohol diluted with a meal - if anything it's good for you. I take all news with a pinch of salt these days. The news and "myths" control too many people's lives - too many people are sheep and just follow what is apparent "fact" and start preaching it on to others. I can't stand it. Do what you bloody well like - make an informed decision, who are they to tell me what I can and cannot do?!

You got a single fact to back that up? Which corporate entities stand to benefit from this particular news item?

Oh dear.

Funnily enough we watched a DVD on alcohol this evening at my Drugs Awareness class.
Nasty stuff.

To be honest i couldnt drink a bottle of wine a day at 27 and go to work.

BUT my granddad was in the hotel business for 25 years and drank nearly half a bottle of scotch a day and is still going strong at 78. Drinking depends on the person, not on the the amount.

I have a couple of pints every other night with mates, a few times that amount at weekends :p

I've been brought up with my parents drinking quite openly so 2 glasses of wine isnt exactly going on a binge, that's just a night in...
