And the price drop is the cause. Since releasing the 40GB model and reducing the price of the 60GB one, sales have skyrocketed, besting even the Xbox 360. However, the PS3 was unable to trounce upon the sales leaders, Wii and DS.

With the recent surge in popularity of the PS3, games like Resistance have been climbing up the all formats chart. Insomniac's year-old FPS is now the eight best selling game in the territory.

Good news for Sony, be interesting to see if sales continue to grow now with the lower priced model...

Yes, the launch games have skyrocketed again, which really, only goes to show the state of the PS3's library. Good to see the PS3's sales go up again, now let's see the games to back it up.

Well not sure whats right\wrong, just quoting a website.

Those games are coming slow and steady, they need to step it up a bit though.

I just read that the Xbox360 outsold the Wii and trounced everything else in the month of September. Odd.

It says the month of September in the article, but wasn't Halo3 released in October?

Definitely good news for Sony. It still needs to improve its attachment rate though which, much like the Wii, is quite poor.

Halo 3 came out in the last week of september that would explain the sales.

Tho i was expecting higher sales for the 360.

still think PS3 is going to struggle this year, prob next xmas will be their time

Thats just US sales Is it not? Anyway surprised the 360 only out sold the Wii in the US by 25K when its biggest game is released, shows how well the Wii is doing over there. Back to the UK (as thats what the topic is about), pretty good sales, but i expect most are the 60Gb bundle, in all our local computer shops my brother could only find one shop with a couple of 60Gbs left. Wonder how long it will last, i expect it will drop off in a few weeks though, the big sales i think will happen in november with R+C, Uncharted, Time Crisis etc are out, and of course christmas.

Yeah agree I know quite a few people getting PS3's for Xmas, including my nephew who doesnt know it yet, cant wait to see his face :D

The fact the ps3fanboy article only suggest a % increase and not an actual sales figure leads me to believe its not as great as it sounds, considering how poor it was selling then such a big % increase in sales is not all that good anyway.

Doesn't surprised me. People seemed to forget that Wii is still sold out over there. I'm not sure why, it seemed to be holding back as compared to the previous few months, maybe to stock up in time for Mario Galaxy next month? Nintendo have already said that they'll be struggled to meet the demands this Christmas.

strange article, estimating/predicting September sales in October??

I'm guessing they mean November...

I know a number people considering a PS3 for christmas now that it's at £300 so it's obvious price has been its stumbling block.
