My x1900xt has been stable for ages at up to 749/801, 1.6v, watercooled using ati tool then more lately ati tray tools.

Recently I have been messing with a few different installs and now i've come back to xp pro as a gaming platform, I cannot get it stable. Mostly this manifests in ep2 or tf2 as a complete system lock up. If I remove the oc completely there is no problem. If I run even at stock memory and 680 core I have problems. However, 680 core and 790 memory are fine if I use overdrive.

Is it possible the card has become more sensitive to the icreased voltage in ati tray tools? i did need to go this high when setting up to achieve 749.

Temps are fine.

I have tried the latest ati tray tools and the older one that I was originally using as well as ati tool 0.25b which I had used successfully before.

I haver tried low level (with ati poller disabled) and driver level (with ati poller enabled) and still have problems.

The flash osd and system monitor in ati tray tools say i'm getting the 1.6v. Is there any reason to doubt this?

using cat 7.9.

Years ago I had a AMD Athlon XP2400 that ran at 2450Mhz for years and suddenly it could not run at >2300Mhz no matter what I did.

Maybe the long period of increased voltage has damaged the chip?

Cards do die slowly over time. I've had cards which I've had to turn down the overclock over the years.

Eventaully you can't even run them at stock anymore.
