Euro Qualifiers 13th & 17th October **Spoilers**

Hardly, they were getting slaughtered by the press and by the rest of the world for being a one man team. One player that could take kicks. We tried that with beckham and look how that turned out.

The rugby team then milked the WC win for so long the actual playing of the game became secondary.

The football team dont need to take lessons from them.

So many people already calling it over. The same people who write their team off in the league after 3 matches.

We will still qualify.

What are you talking about!?? You obviously have no idea whatsoever about rugby. Stick to f1 mate:p. I think the England football team could learn about passion from the rugby side. I'd put the blame on lack of fight/assion on the lamest of the lame duck Mclaren.

I'd be gutted if I was a Scotland supporter what a way for them to probably go out of qualifying :( beat France twice and then get rolled over 2-0 by Georgia.

Gonna need to beat the world champs now to qualify.

Don't think there's going to be much cheering in the UK at Euro 08!!

In true England spirit, always looking elsewhere than the poor players and tactical farces to blame defeat on - this time it's the pitch. Make your mind up Englanders :p

Damn, from the Five Live commentary Scotland just forgot to show up today. I did have a nasty suspicion that something like this might happen, I've watched Scotland for long enough to know they will frequently do the difficult stuff and then forget about the 'easy' games.

Ah well, I guess it is all about beating the World Champions, come on Scotland. :)

Nobody on here has mentioned the pitch as a reason why we lost and there's hardly been a mention of the penalty that wasn't a penalty.

After the stone wall penalty was not given to us in first half i knew it wasn't going to end pretty. Too many players there didn't perform

Ferguson passed too many players into trouble tonight or gave the ball away with silly things and wasn't the only one

Maloney - would have been better with Robson on from the start for him the impact he made

Murty and Alexander - they both didn't look comfortable all night and boy did we miss Naymsith and Hutton

Fletcher - passed the ball about but you could see he wasn't match fit with his usual energy missing

Overall others had equally poor games but more on the fact they didn't seem to turn up on the night, McFadden as always putting all his effort into it pity others hadn't as well tonight.

I say wrap Hutton, Naymsith, Brown, Hartley in cotton wool in the last few weeks before the Italy game, as these players were sorely missed tonight.

I just hope we have a full squad to pick from for the Italy game, as we will need it.

Luke Moore hasn't got a hope but Young and Agbonlahor should be seriously thought of for the wide roles; with Lennon injured and Joe Cole doing **** all ever since the WC (for Chelsea too) we're seriously lacking in end product out wide.

Have to agree, Luke Moore has disappointed me this season to be honest - he doesn't seem to of pushed on as much as I would have hoped, and seems to cut a somewhat unhappy figure at the moment.

Ashley Young should have been given a chance by now, even 15 minutes at the end to see how he fares, as he is in really good form, and I think Gabby Agbonlahor also should be in the squad as he seems to be a real handful, and is starting to look an accomplished performer in the Premiership, but I guess every fan believes 2 or 3 of their players should be in the squad!

Correct, but I know enough to see they are sod all without the man kicking the ball between the posts. I know enough to see they have done bugger all for the last 4 years apart from live off the world cup win.

I know enough people from other parts of the world to know england are seen as playing an awful form of rugby. Sure its been effective, but it doesnt make it pretty. ;)

Constant blaming of mclaren, the lack of fight is always put at someones door. Never the players. Which manager do you think will get some fight from these players?

Loki is right the game needs looking at from the bottom. Its no coincidence the last few teams to win the world cup have about 30% overseas players, yet we have over 70% and are getting nowhere.

The dutch are the same and they get nowhere.

The FA needs more power because most of these guys can't be arsed to turn out for england friendlies. The next england friendly Rooney will have a bad back, Gerrard will have a groin strain and so on.

These players know their position is safe. They should drop those players and make them fight for the place. Leave the people in that do turn up for friendlies.

But nothing will change, we will employ another big name manager and limp along. We can employ Fergie, Wenger or whoever. 1 tournament later we would be hearing about them being tactically crap.

Its the players, they just aren't really that good.

i'll take that as a yes, that was a genuine question btw.

Yupp they did....then they went on to draw in Malta and Moldova, whilst we won 5 on the trot.

Final whistle, we won 1-0 in Turkey  :D :D Greece are going to the Euro 2008  Survived a post hit late on :o Yay \o/ I think Turkey are knocked out now, or have only a very slim chance to get through..........

Would have loved to be there now, supporting them......though the run to the airport might be fun :p

TBH, it looked poor before the penalty decision anyway. Georgia played better for almost the whole game.

Still, onto Italy. :D

Northern Ireland still losing to Sweden?
Could be a quiet UK indeed. :(

I don't agree with this bit, how many of the Brazil side that won the WC played in Brazil? How many of the French side played in France? Next to none so the amout of Brazilian or French players playing in there league made no difference because none were in the national side. Its only been Italy that won the WC while having all (at least the bulk of it anyway) there squad play in Italy but they have just as many foreign players in there league too.

Our problem is the lack of technically gifted players to choose from and that's because of the standard of coaching at youth levels.
