I don't think he had any other option. No other PES game has had the same backlash as this one. It took PES a long time to overhaul Fifa in the public opinion only for it to wobble after 1 year and possibly collapse after 2.

How can they call a game shameful and then give it 70%?
Play magazine aren't very reputable anyway.
To be honest I'm disappointed that hardly any new features have been added but I know that I'll be playing PES2008 till next year based on the demo. It really needs revamped and I think it was very strange and stupid of Seabass to come out less than two weeks before release saying he isn't happy his game.
One persons review end of day some reviews giving it 9/10 and when you read them hardly criticize one bit.
All about opinions we like what we like.

He should be saying that he isn't happy after the release though. Saying things like that put people off from buying the game because they know if the developer isn't happy then it's not a great sequel.
Whilst that's quite true, and it's probably quite unprofessional of him to speak out before it's retail release, I think he was maybe trying to win back fans who perhaps had seen the PES series had become stale (myself being one).
I think his comments clearly show that there are many people who feel a lot like myself and Bingham and the series does NEED to be addressed in a serious manner, starting with an engine overhaul which is hopefully what will happen (though I doubt it).
Also, in that interview he made a comment saying it was impossible to add new modes etc.. in due to the time frame... utter tripe. HE has already stated the new modes are up and working for 2009... if they are working now, why aren't they in 2008. If 2 years with next-gen architecture isn't enough then maybe he's in the wrong industry.

He says he's not happy with the team of developers that he has at the moment and that fundamental principles on which the game has always been written/programmed has not changed since early ISS. He would like to make 2009 from scratch and start what he refers to as a "true next gen experience", for the next iteration.
I think Pro Evo is unbeatable value. I love Pro Evo 6, and have played it more than any other game I own on the 360. 2008 make some nice embellishments, and that will do me and many other fans of the game just nicely.

ill probably get both, but FIFA08 is a really great game. I played the champions league game this year when it was released and it was nearly good, but FIFA 08 is soo much better than PES6.
The demo of PES2008 really worries me with the stuttery play and slowdown. we'll see though.

I agree, he's certainly been misquoted, as per usual something will have been lost in translation, however I doubt he would say he's unhappy with the people he works with too as that's about as unprofessional as you could get.
Financially Konami would get any backing they needed for a new Pro Evolution Soccer, personally I would like to see Seabass lead a team of top British designers and programmers, I have no doubt at all you would definitely get a superior game.
Pro Evo for me, Fifa feels sluggish and too slow, don't really care about how old a game engine is, when it work's it work's. Pro Evo demo is not how the final game is can't wait, will be nice to get the new one online, even though Pro Evo 6 is still going strong on Live

You can be happy with an out-dated engine if you want, but if you get similar gameplay on a new engine with proper physics etc.. then you're talking a game of legendary status. Pro Evolution has been heading towards a wall for engine limitations since PES4, we saw it coming but it was interesting to see just how much more he could get out of it, and I think that's PES2008.

Stop talking nonsense. We know PES doesn't have correct physics. Look at the information that is coded into stuff like Fifa and Madden and you can see real physics in action. You say it's a red-rag? I've owned EVERY single one. And I will get the new one too. But I expect more from my games. If I didn't I'd still be playing old classics wouldn't I?
You're entitled to your opinion, however when I say it's an outdated engine it's clearly obvious that it is.

The basic difference now, and its all the more evident after playing fifa for nearly a month and then going back to a game of PES6, is just how arcadey pro evo has become, and how simulated fifa has become.
The pace of the game in Fifa is bang on, although its a little slower online, but offline the pace of it is bang on. You can also score some truly stunning goals that leave you dancing around the room with joy. When i was playing PES last night i was thinking "i cant wait for this game to be over so i can play Fifa again" (although i went to bed afterwards, but you get the point.

Rubbish, pure and simple, rubbish it's amazing someone who claims to know so much can come out with something like that, bizarre comment to make, you really have let yourself down there.
No idea why you would buy it when clearly it's not good enough, another bizarre decision, and I told you yesterday to stop nitpicking at my opinions, its tiring and very boring, your basically just itching to get me to react, why? It's sad. Now really can you please just accept I prefer Pro Evo over Fifa, why is that such a hard thing to accept.

i hope the PS3 PES08 doesnt stutter or flaw.
the PC version is only 18 squid, but id much prefer to own it and play it on my PS3 as i can wirless pad etc and probably hook it up to a projector!

im not a snob or a fanboy, but i can't trust people who actively choose FIFA over Pro Evo. Generally i find them to be chav;s or neds who have just "brought the new FIFA Aight,"

Yes. i have tried the new fifa demo, i would still choose to play Pro Evo 6 on my PC or PS2 over it.
