Vulcan to the Sky update - Norwich, 24th Feb

XXL361 @ Goose Bay suffered serious problems in the flight over - would have cost too much to repair, so they retired there as a gate guardian for the RAF detachment there - whent hey left, she was gifted to the local town

XM605 - On loan from the British Government to the USAF, who have, in turn, loaned it to the Castle Museum - don't know much else about her.

XM573 - Presented to the Strategic Air & Space Musuem as a token of cooperation between the Royal Air Force and the Strategic Air Command, and made it's last flight into Offutt AFB, Nebraska in June, 1982.

XM606 - Another one presented to the USAF.

Think thats it.

Right - further to my previous update. :D

No4 engine was finally set up tail end of last week. However during a electrical test run the hydraulic line above No3 engine went pop. They aborted all runs at that point and pulled her back to the hanger to investigate the failure.

'558 was stuck back up on sticks and No3 was dropped out of the aircraft. Took 7 hours. Considering the last time they dropped an engine out was in '99 I believe, thats really not bad at all.

Next week: Hydraulic repairs, U/C functional tests, more electrical tests and engine runs to test the refitted engine.

That delays flight by around a week sadly. But, she will fly this season.

Last I heard, the current plan is that she will attend one event this year *note: event, not airshow* do a couple of flybys and then go home.

Next year? Full season. :D

Anyhooo...
