Does anyone actually know whether the "Special Edition" of this motherboard will be a limited run or not? I like the look of it and I'll probably end up going watercooling with my next build - but I wasn't intending on doing that til probably after Xmas.

I've been toying with the idea of buying one of these boards (assuming it is a limited run) for when that happens, but I don't want to if I don't need to - especially since prices will most likely come down over time.

At the same time I don't want to miss out completely if it is a limited run as the NB watercooling solution looks quite effective.

Thoughts?

Hi , i saw on the Asus website that there are going to be limited numbers released so if thats the case then prices will probably stay high, you can run the nb of the se passive so why not buy now and water cool later, under water this does run very cool, and the latest bios has cured a few problems , i am now happy with this board

Another question: is there likely to be hardware revisions on the board? I guess you can never really tell but that's another reason to hold off buying immediately I guess...

Dunno about hardware revisions, but I too have seen it mentioned that the non-SE will conitune as the only SKU once the SE's are all sold.....

Are you saying you get a different non-WC heatsink in the box with the SE? I can't see how you could run the NB passive when it's designed to be water-cooled... it would overheat wouldn't it? (the heatsink itself is smaller than the air-cooled version, as it doesn't need to be as big when watercooled)

I read somewhere they were only gona sell it for a month but obviously thats gona be a bit hit and miss. Still I would definetly recomend it!

No you can in theory run the same heatsink non-watercooled. I found mine got very hot but some people have found it ok with a fan directly attached to it.

so if i go for the water cooled version i can still run it without water, just fans.

i have no water cooling what so ever and dont intend to, for a long time
