Anyone done this before? The only thing I can find on the site is the cost (15.50), it says nothing about packaging or preperation.

I guess I'll have to flatten the tyres and turn the handlebars sideways. What else?

Can anyone recommend a cheapo 'bag' to put it in?

Don't tell Ryanair you want to take a bike, they'll book a family of 5 onto it and charge you extra as a subcontractor

I have taken my bike on flights before without any problems or extra charges. This has always been with 'proper' airlines though rather than budget airlines so I guess you might get charged by someone like Ryanair. I just put my bike in a bike box and check it in with the rest of my luggage, never bothered ringing ahead.

Dont use Ryanair, didnt you see watch dog last night (think it was watch dog).

Pay more money to garantee a spot next to the person you booked with, pay to check out and more.

Feeding the monster only makes it fatter!!

OMG Common Sense.
Not when you're talking about Ryan Air.

I'm sure they'll charge you a lot to carry it.

Not so long ago they introduced a system whereby you don't just pay for your luggage by weight, but by the number of suitcases you take with you! If flying with any normal airline, you're given an allowance, approximately 25kg for BA iirc, and if you take 1, 3 or 5 suitcases you'll not pay extra provided the total weight of your cases doesn't exceed this limit. With Ryan Air, however, when you book your tickets you have to know in advance how many suitcases you're going to be using and they charge you extra for each suitcase (with no refunds if you over-estimated the number of cases you'd use). Ryan Air's baggage allowance is also the lowest I've seen - and that includes el cheapo airlines like Easy Jet, BMI Baby, etc...

I despise flying with them, but if we visit the in-laws in Montpellier during the off-peak season then we've no choice, as BA only have flights during the summer months :(
