Speedball 2 coming to XBLA

Bought it straight away last night, immediately turned off the new graphics. I do hope those poxy things aren't the reason we had to wait so long.

Got to round 8 of the knockout before I was... well... knocked out. Any idea how many teams you have to beat to win that?

Had one game online and lost it by 116 to 118 over two legs :(

Sheer class. Was worried they'd mucked it up when I first played it, but no, it still survives. Although the front end it very ropey - should have put more time into that rather than the poxy graphics "upgrades". :(

Meant to say also, has anyone else noticed an odd bug whereby if you hold the direction stick before the ball come backs down from a centre you can't move anywhere? I lost loads of 'kickoffs' because of that :(

Yea I noticed that.

Anyone else had a really laggy online experience with this game? Could have just been my connection last night but it was pretty bad!

Grabbed this at half time yesterday when the footy was on.

Old games should stay in the past. I've said it before and everytime i fold and grab a live arcade game im disapointed.

For me Speedball2 will always be the home from school game on the amiga when me and my mates used to play winner stays on for HOURS till my folks used to go nuts.

Maybe its the sort of person I am, just casue it was good in the 80s doesnt mean it cuts the mustard now. Think metro cars and lads with perms.

From now on I MUST just keep the memorys....

Yep, it was driving me mad. I thought my controller was broken at first.

I get that right away after kick off. It seems that the controller input has zero response for a millisecond after KO and then springs into life but the opposition have the ball by that time :/ Even tapping the stick after KO has no response here.

Had a colossal match last night with the top Div 4 :o team. I was 42-0 down against Apocalopse :o and the start of the second half began. I managed to crawl my way back by a few fluke goals, and then at 42-42 with a five seconds remaining I hit that blobby globe in the middle of the arena and got the extra 2 points! I actually got up from my chair and did the 'Carlton/Fresh prince' dance :p

Got to say I agree.

The only exception that has lived up to the memories has been Track and Field  and possibly TMNT both of which a mate and I had a right laugh with.

Golden Axe, Double Dragon, Worms, Final Fight all left us very disappointed.

one thing,

is the full game complete with all the sounds?

this conversion isnt faithful to the original in the sound department, its a copy of the atari st version, no speech in game, "ice cream" and such, also the music is different :(

I want the amiga version. Gameplay is still great though, but unsure on getting the full version. I want all the sounds

The "Ice Cream" sound is in when you score and the sirens sound when they take an injured player off.

I really don't like the new music though, I definately would have prefered the Amiga music.

loving this even the wife commented that id been quite for a very long time lol

no idea how to injure a player havent managed it yet. though im picking it up slowly :)

spent about 4 hours on it yesterday lol even kept me up way past bedtime. classic for a reason people put some effort in and reap the rewards 10 minutes is not enough to judge :)

On the bottom left and right of the screen you will see a blue and red meter (blue is obviously you and red the other team). This will gradually go down the more beating a player takes. When it's empty they get taken off on a stretcher and a sub (3 subs) takes there place.

Very true. Speedball 2, in my opinion, is definately a addictive 'pickup n play' game where graphics are of little importance to me.

How do you save, as in to come back to later?

Edit: Nevermind, it saved automatically. Phew!
