stiff sore aching muscles...

Is the general consensus that you shouldn't work out the same muscle group two days running?

Definately. The recovery time for the muscles is just as important as the actual work out. At the very least 1 day seems to be recommended from what I've come across, up to 7 days, depending how heavy the workout is. Often folk will split their workout into 4 or 5 days a week with each day targeting a specific muscle group, then the rest of the week is all recovery time for that group.

BTW, I've been told 25 seconds *at least* for the warm down stretching of each muscle. I'm sure if you search on line you'll find many examples of good stretching techniques.

pain don't mean gain, its a myth.

no its not. Its only a 'myth' when people mistake INJURIES or pain from POOR FORM for good pain. If your training anything hard it hurts, if your doing heavy squats you may in fact want to die many, many times over. Ther is NO SUCH THING as painless muscle growth.

Training hurts like a femal-dog, its the single biggest reason MOST guys dont have a good body, that and beer. But its about the RIGHT pain, not just pain itself.

are you saying if you dont get DOMS after a workout it means that in effect your muscles are not going to grow?

lol no, but its a good indicator that you've worked the right muscles beyond their limits. If you dont tear muscle tissue you WONT grow as growth comes in response to damage and repair. So although theres not a lot wrong with being fine the day after, i mean maybe your heart got a workout, but growth without muscle damage? Thats the myth.

that to me sounds like you are saying you cant grow if you dont get DOMS...

anyway

DOMS is a debate that can go either way...some people say they never get them, and grow, some people say they always get them and its the reason they grow.

no im saying people who pussy out when training never grow, DOMS or not only YOU can know if you worked you butt off or finished a rep too soon.

The reason i bring this point to the table is that debating things like DOMS and whether or not they are necessary for growth/mass gain is a typical wimp out banter, its of no consequence whatsoever. Some people dont get it and grow, most do get it and grow. Some get it and dont grow (probably poor diet), some dont get it because they are pussies.

Making these distinctions however is silly, training is not about getting DOMS its about getting results, lifting more, running further, looking bigger. Dont judge anyone by what they talk about, 99% of people are all mouth, judge them by what they actually DO.

EDIT damn im ranting tonight, must be on my man period or something
