Hellgate: Londom demo thread

the character's don't look to bad, the textures of, well, everything, look incredibly awful so far. but hopefully they left out the ultra high res textures for everything, and left out the very high, high, medium, not so medium, low and crap textures and only included the ultra 5 years ago textures in the demo :p

literally every texture not on the characters need to be better, the entire world looks awful. but even if they redo all the textures the outside world, the bits like the inside buildings, that lame attempt to seem like a real building with front blown off, it just feels so so bad. though was kinda fun to play, would deffo like to see some shots from the final shipping game before i decided to order.

theres being stupid and not getting a game because its not the most up to date looking thing around, then theres just the plain, sane "i don't want to play this because it feels 10 years old" which this demo is screaming out.
 
Am I right in thinking the demo ends at Covent Garden, or am I missing where to move through?
 
I thought this game was really really good looking? even taking advantage of DX10. Looks like I've been horribly mistaken as those shots look awful.

well as i said, beta's and early demo's can leave out literally all the higher res textures, which could pretty much monumentally change the way looks, but feels, unlikely. the inside building bits(they are only basic) feel kinda crappy space/setup wise as opposed to texture wise. i dunno, the early feel is multiple repeated instances of long winding single street before next train station entrance, it doesn't feel all that free roaming at all.

but the cars, bus's, the rubble, the building walls, the pavement/roads, the lighting and a bunch of other stuff could change massively and look a heck of a lot better with decent texture pack. like i said, for the first time in a long time gfx matter because, for a actual demo, with game only 2 weeks away this looks absolutely terrible. if they aren't dramatically improved in the final game, i just simply don't want to play a game that looks massively worse than games that have been out for ages.


didn't play the marksman yet, but assuming you do infact aim where you shoot. thats been my main gripe with mmo's, the lack of direct control and skill involved in aiming. think it might be really nice if new weapons had different recoils, some aren't sighted perfectly so aim just off to the right or something, to introduce a little skill needed for every new weapon.
 
I psent a couple of minutes messing with the character creation thingy, then when the game actually started, I quit after 30 seconds. It didn't suck me in at all. May come back to it later. Back to the UT3 demo for the moment.
 
Well the demo plays like AutoAssualt in single player and anyone who played that knows how bad that is.

Its not good looking and doesnt play to well.

Im gonna download the beta and see how it plays as a multiplayer game but i dont hold out allot of hope tbh.

Warts leg was funny though. It is a 3d version of diablo updated to "modern times" shame the gameplay is left back in the 1980s.
