Obviously you've never tried it
Vista > XP

Obviously... what an astute and mature comment. :p

However, I use Vista on a fairly beefy work PC for testing purposes. Go and do some internet research and see the numerous professional articles detailing Vista problems, as well as users.

the problem is, people forget how silly an argument this is.

yes vista has some problems, mostly that it doesn't install the same. my first install i got, for no apparent reason slow network transfers and folder to folder transfers and explorer using 99% of one core for no reason. the update for network issues worked, explorer i couldn't fix. installed again after a few weeks and had no issues, both of the problems weren't there anymore. installed again on new hdd's recently and the network issue is back, the fix doesn't work but folder to folder is uber quick. the problem is theres no apparent reason for any of it.

but back to what i was starting to say, it has problems sure, XP has a crapload of problems too. the ONLY difference is we have lived with xp for so long we know how to fix or bypass most problems. saying vista has problems as a reason its poor is useless. Linux has problems, osx has problems, vista has problems and xp has problems, as well as every OS.

the thing is, the learning curve, working out how to fix things, it won't change , you learn now, or in a year, or in 3 years but you'll do it eventually. just like you did with XP, and ME, and 98 and 95.

most vista problems/issues/irritations can all be fixed/changed/customised to suit you within 30 seconds of finishing installing it to be honest. much like if i install XP i change 20-30 settings instantly, then update, reboot and so on. hell, you can make vista work almost identically to XP in mere seconds with the added bonus of DX10. my first install, aero was dodgey and irritating(too many programs caused it to drop back to basic view, included wmp classic which i use all day long) so i got rid of it, change folders and menu's, it felt like i was using XP with a different colour taskbar and different start button but i could use dx10, that was the only difference.

i think thats bloody well said and agree 100% as thats what iv been telling people also, i may also add if people dont use the operating system because of problems they wont be able to fix them.

Rubbish. Why should people purchase a product that is, out of the dictionary, faulty. As for fixing it also rubbish, MS know too well what the problems are from even a few people who have used it and the large amounts of coverage.

If you go to the shop and buy a TV and half the picture is displayed you take it back, even if "the manufacturer promises to fix it later". As with most releases, windows has MANY problems, but people buy it, totally forgetting the fact that a product is being released thats doesn't work as intended.

As for the statement "its working fine" or "it is working as intended" well it obviously isnt :)

Note im not bashing it, im sure eventually Vista will be a great stable choice. At the monment it isnt
