'parantly two went 'round these 'ere parts last noight.. Hoi-Ab'd by ****** sailin' the seven seas...

Seriously though - one went from my estate and one from about a mile away.

I'd heard that they were 'desireable' but two in one night?

*n

They've certainly been popular with the baseball bat wielding brigade in the past, you'd have thought the edge would have gone off it with the new model though.

(Although if I was risking goinging down for armed robbery I'd probably take something a little more £££ ;) ).

Could be but seems strange.

The ones normally stolen are either used for robbery or just disappear from the face of the earth (probably parts or taken overseas)

They are a popular for getting nicked, and by means of acquiring the key too. They aren't very rare so that makes them an easier target I suppose.

A guy who goes on some drives with us had his supercharged Breadvan stolen by guys armed with sledgehammers breaking in his door. They used it for armed robbery and managed to kill an old lady with it in the process. He managed to get it back, however they buggered his Rotrex in the process, amongst other things.

I hope nobody tries to take mine :(

I couldn't imagine how Seano felt when "baby" was nicked. I honestly think I would cry if mine was stolen!

3 people I work with have Type Rs, 2 were stolen by there house getting broken into and the keys taken about 2 weeks apart both live in Glasgow. Both were used in robberies one had every panel dented and was written off, the other was recovered with a light mark down the side and returned.

On the plus side the one that was written off got replaced and hes getting it supercharged in the newyear with the full works bakes/diff/suspension etc

My mate had his taken from his drive, they broke into the house for the keys.
You would imagine that he would have replaced the car with something less desirable.....

He went for an Impreza p1!

Next it will be his P1. Remember seeing a post of the scooby forum about some guy who's P1 had been put onto skates and pushed out of his garden all the way down his street. To where they broke into he car, ripped out the alarm and immobilizer and took off in it. Had thousands of pounds of upgrades and a set of one off brakes that cost the guy £££'s

They're common, fast, relatively understated and make great getaway vehicles for armed robbers.

That's where the 'market' for them seems to be, aswell as the obvious breaking up/selling on. They were/are the second most nicked car in the country behind 3 series bimmers not so long ago. I park mine on the street, actually there's a few round here, but none have been pinched yet. The way my road is I'd be very impressed if ****** were able to hoist my car onto a flatbed without making a severe meal of it!
