Hey guys, i float about a bit but always read this forum, GO TEAM!

Need advice,

I want to buy this car: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/250998.htm

and the insurance because I am 18 is £2500, now I have all the cash to be able to buy the car and insurance but am I daft spendin that much on insurance?

Could there be a faster car that I could insure for £2500?

Thanks guys really excited I got a new job and its a big break in my life so i wanna buy a car to reward myself!

Thanks TEAM

Its nice you have cash to spend on a car, i did the exact same with me and the Mini... but insurance is just gonna sting for a while untill you build some NCB up... im paying just short of £1600 F/C on my Mini ONE... and i only turned 19 in August, passed November last year and had the car in February.

Just be carefull, i'd only been driving a few months when I had my car, but I do look back and think I coulda done with waiting till about now to actually go out and get the car.. and remember dude, its not all about speed...

Cheers for that useful advice mate, I have been driving for a year on my dads policy, dnt worry I'm not one of those crazy speed freaks just want summat nice and that's not as slow as my old punto!

How much was your first years insurance on the mini? I take it £1600 is with the NCB?

It depends really, if your 18 and can afford to buy a £4500 car then you must have money to burn. If that car is what you really want then go for it IMO, you only live once after all.

Is that TPFT or fully comp?, if its TPFT then id say build up some no claims first then get the Focus.

its fully comp with legal protection TPFT was more :O I'm gonna need a car to get to my new job so I need to get my act togethr really, I've delayed buying one for bout a 2 months!

but you spent more than £4.2k on your mini.... kinda making it worthwhile paying a bit more indurance for.

buy something cheap, when you start driving you will most likely slip the clutch crunch gears and possibly have a small scrape or two, I know I really wouldnt want to do any of that to an expensive car, better to buy some reliable old car for 500 quid keep it for a year get some experience then buy a more expensive car and have ncb and experience, there are plenty of older cars that are quick and can be had for peanuts

Love those alloys I've got to get me some of those.

One thing that attracts me to the car, its basically a zetec but with brilliant allows and special paint!

I've joined ffoc in preperation, you a member there tom?

would you pay that much for insurance?

That wont be a problem m8 I've been driving for a year and consider myself to be very compotent I've had my "crash" already, luckily it was in a punto!

Hello mate, yes I am on FFOC my username is (tomnbk)

Also who is that quote with?.

Things to think about;

Have you done your pass plus?

which insurance company is that with?

did you get the quote online?

have you tried phoning around and getting prices that way?

have you tried adding your parents to your OWN policy to try and lower the cost somewhat.

In my first year at 17 my Focus was 1600 to insure. This year it should be a tad cheaper. I would most likely pay that much for insurance. But I'd be making sure I got some cash off the car to compensate for it ;)

Haggled 300 quid off my car which was effectively put right oonto Insurance :D

Orginally it was 2k, then I moved and it dropped as I moved to a better postal code (its a lottery... lol) but I still havnt got my years NCB, dont get that till feburary..

TomNBK you had 1 years no claims that's why your's was so cheap even in your name.

I payed £1200 at 17 (mums policy), It was gonna drop to £700 but I had a crash so now im paying £1100 :( :(

Unless your slipping the clutch daily and your a complete noob the car won't be affected by small slips or crunches :), as for the scrape well that all depends on how well you drive and how much care you take. I've been driving a year with my Foci from 17 not had a scrape as of yet (touch wood), getting used to the space awareness of the car took a while though :o

I have been in contact with the owner of the car today, he'll accept £4000 for the car!

Given the big selling point of the Focus MP3 was it's MP3 compatible stock Ford HU its amusing to see the seller has removed it in favour of a cheap £49 Sony.

Are you 100% sure it came with a MP3 player, I've seen loads for sale, all had the CD6000 as standard.

I found this quite amusing aswell, I may ask if he has the original as I would prefer the original oem look!
