I thought everyone had a p35/x38 by now there's still people on stoneage chipsets?
more likely that it will work on most pci-e than not i think
I'm happily on 965 still... hardly a stoneage chipset.![]()
Bugger, looks like i wont be getting a one if they PCI-E 2, Intels 965's are only PCI-E 1.0.
"Q5: Then PCIe 2.0 must be backward compatible with PCIe 1.1 and 1.0?
A5: Yes. The PCIe Base 2.0 specification supports both the 2.5GT/s and 5GT/s signaling technologies. A device designed to the PCIe Base 2.0 specification may support 2.5GT/s, 5GT/s or both. However, a device designed to operate specifically at 5GT/s must also support 2.5GT/s signaling. The PCIe Base specification covers chip-to-chip topologies on the system board. For I/O extensibility across PCIe connectors, the Card Electromechanical (CEM) and ExpressModule™ specifications will also need to be updated, but this work will not impact mechanical compatibility of the slots, cards or modules. Currently, the PCI-SIG is defining the PCIe CEM 2.0 specification which has been released to members for review at v0.5. There are currently no plans to adapt the PCIe Mini CEM specification for the faster bit rate as the market need has not yet materialized."
The stoneage thing was a joke as i have already stated, i just get the impression your a gtx owner which is why the personal attack on me ?.
Not my fault the gtx and gts is about to be be EOL hardware am as gutted as anyone having recently purchased an 8800 gts 640mb.How can i be exaggerating ?
these cards run cooler and have 112 SP which means they are going to be great cards. The gts is now said to be coming with even more than 128 SP as reported on another forum.
tbh his outlandish posts in this thread have got me a little worried, is the GT really gonna beat the current GTX, I just can't see what Nvidia are playing @ if thats true, that would mean then that the new gts/gtx's would have massive gains compared to the current gts/gtx's but I just can't see that happening.
Personal attack?, Get a grip ffs, I mean really.
GTX/GTS EOL is not the be all of the cards they will still run fine and produce great results, saying owners will be gutted is just ridiculous. This is an 8800GT for Christ sakes not the second coming of Christ. Welcome to my ignore list.
I think the 65nm will have a lot to play.
GTX.GTS. old rev
= old tech
sorry but its true.
Thats hardware for you
eh, so what you saying ?, 90nm gts/gtx are out the game already ?, both you and C64 need to take take a chill pill seriously, this is just a new revision not a next gen gpu, they way some people are talking it's like 65nm and a few extra stream pro are go to solve world hunger.
