Whos ditching 8800 for new rev?

Just thinking, if the GTX does drop massively in value then I'll bag myself a nice + cheap second hand one and run two in SLi. OK it's not a perfect upgrade (SLi issues etc) but should last be a decent while.

I'm happily on 965 still... hardly a stoneage chipset. ;)

C64 seems to LOVE to exaggerate. Noticed lot's of it in these threads.

I.E

saying those that have recently bought a GTX/GTS are doomed with this new card, which is frankly laughable and a total exaggeration.

Oh and apparantly the 965 being stoneage...comedy really is.

The stoneage thing was a joke as i have already stated, i just get the impression your a gtx owner which is why the personal attack on me ?.
Not my fault the gtx and gts is about to be be EOL hardware am as gutted as anyone having recently purchased an 8800 gts 640mb.How can i be exaggerating ?
these cards run cooler and have 112 SP which means they are going to be great cards. The gts is now said to be coming with even more than 128 SP as reported on another forum.

tbh his outlandish posts in this thread have got me a little worried, is the GT really gonna beat the current GTX, I just can't see what Nvidia are playing @ if thats true, that would mean then that the new gts/gtx's would have massive gains compared to the current gts/gtx's but I just can't see that happening.

The 8800GT aint going to beat the 8800GTX. It just aint going to happen. End off. Plus you can overclock the GTX as it will probally be coming in 65nm form.

I wonder if the single slot cooler is partly to stop it overclocking past the higher end cards? If they put a beefy cooling solution on it it looks like this could clock pretty high.

Man, I just want them to announce the freaking thing. So I can order everything. My case and memory sitting near me and I can't do much. OMG

I wonder if the 29th is when they gonna announce those cards. And after few months they will release them. This way I will die.

but for the millionth time they are supposed to be compatible with PCI-E 1.0 anyway arn't they,

"Q5: Then PCIe 2.0 must be backward compatible with PCIe 1.1 and 1.0?
A5: Yes. The PCIe Base 2.0 specification supports both the 2.5GT/s and 5GT/s signaling technologies. A device designed to the PCIe Base 2.0 specification may support 2.5GT/s, 5GT/s or both. However, a device designed to operate specifically at 5GT/s must also support 2.5GT/s signaling. The PCIe Base specification covers chip-to-chip topologies on the system board. For I/O extensibility across PCIe connectors, the Card Electromechanical (CEM) and ExpressModule™ specifications will also need to be updated, but this work will not impact mechanical compatibility of the slots, cards or modules. Currently, the PCI-SIG is defining the PCIe CEM 2.0 specification which has been released to members for review at v0.5. There are currently no plans to adapt the PCIe Mini CEM specification for the faster bit rate as the market need has not yet materialized."

Personal attack?, Get a grip ffs, I mean really.

GTX/GTS EOL is not the be all of the cards they will still run fine and produce great results, saying owners will be gutted is just ridiculous. This is an 8800GT for Christ sakes not the second coming of Christ. Welcome to my ignore list.

Look at the sheer difference in horsepower and frame-rate at higher resolutions in intensive between an 8800GTS and a GTX and then ask yourself that qestion again... they aren't going to release a lower specced card that trounces their high-end. The GTX is still a monster, and has a considerable lead over a 640MB GTS... up to 40% in some cases.

Thought you were out?:p

No need at all at to be blastformus:rolleyes:

I think the 65nm will have a lot to play.

GTX.GTS. old rev

= old tech

sorry but its true.

Thats hardware for you

eh, so what you saying ?, 90nm gts/gtx are out the game already ?, both you and C64 need to take take a chill pill seriously, this is just a new revision not a next gen gpu, they way some people are talking it's like 65nm and a few extra stream pro are go to solve world hunger.

Agreed.

Also C64 thanks for your charming E-Mail. Apparantly I'm now a Chav :D
