GT 5: Prologue Demo 20th Oct

I want an english version. I like to have my options set to how I like them, not default.

I got no idea how to unlock the cars.

Would be nice to have an english version, anyway some of the cars unlock during the motor show in Tokyo this week, i think the under cover one is the new scoob STI .

Yeah looks like it.

Had another play earlier....

Sorry but i have to emphaise for me how dissapointing the AI really is.
Without even practising im finishing 15 seconds ahead of the pack.

We expected this game to look well, sure it does but i see no evidence of good AI even racing against other AI cars. 16 cars seems to make little difference.

At this stage ican only hope this demo doesnt represent the full games AI Thankfully weve got multi player coming

As stated in the interviews at Leipzig and TGS ( and by me earlier lol) PD said there are two distinct AI modes in GT5 P one a bit like the other GT games, so as not to scare off the majority of people, and another "Hardcore" AI for more experienced drivers (more suitable to you). I would have thought in the demo they would use the "easy" AI for the exact same reason, to make it feel more accessible.

Just played it on a standard 32 inch CRT and it looks stunning, god knows how it looks on an HD telly!
As other people have said, its too easy and the AI isnt great, but its a demo of a demo so to be honest its predictable. Definately a purchase once i get and HD telly sorted, its scary how detailed it is and it isnt finished yet - imagine GT5 full!

You mean when 60mph looks like 20mph,well yes,i see no major change but tbh many games have that problem.

A lot of games do have this problem, but GT:HD is the worst I've ever seen. GT4 wasn't anywhere near as bad as that, so I don't see the problem.
You say 60mph looks like 20mph, I'd say slower.

By the time Burnout Paradise comes out, Gran Turismo 5 will look a joke in terms of speed. Compare it to Project Gotham Racing 4 as it's major rival (PGR is a bigger series than Forza Motorsport) and you can see GT:HD lacks any speed. So if you say GT5 is the same, then that is a major worry.
I'd take a hit on the quality of the interior (the exterior looks basic anyway, ala Forza) to get some speed up.

I REALLY hope this is fixed in time for the games release as I, for the most part, have always enjoyed Gran Turismo games (2 didn't float my boat) so I'll be getting it. How much I play it would be the problem.
Also, I really hope they change the friggin' screetching tyres when you're doing less than 10mph around a corner because not only is it unrealistic (at such volume) but the noise is a mile out!

Graphically it pretty much is finished. Maybe a few minor tweaks, but what you see is what you'll get.

just downloading now , after getting stressed :confused:setting up a jap account.

Hope the game is a good as it looks.

on a side issue i thought i would download everybodys golf 5, but i cant see it, has it been removed ?

Were going to have continued comparisons with PGR4 and i think Nokkonwud is right with the run of new games inc PGR4 they really are looking special.
I too would compare PGR more with GT than Forza, the difference is you can clearly see a MAJOR improvement between PGR3 and PGR4, asside from 1080 do we see a major improvement with GT5 prolouge over GT4 as a complete package, im not so sure?

This demo still has major issues with jaggies, which spoils the full enjoyment of the fantastic car models. The track is a very good representation of the real thing, but with all these new games showing fancy and moody lighting for me it kinda leaves me half happy but wishing it was the 1080 etc with more impressive lighting and cosmetics.

Take for instance the audio, go fire up PGR4 and see the fab backfire from the exhausts, it also sounds awesome, goes really fast, has some car damage and creates a fantastic racing and thrilling experience as a package. Those that are blown away by this demo should look into PGR4 and set a track to storm or rain just to see what we are talking about. Im not digging or flamming against PS3 or GT5 but weve waited this long for it and most of the focus was on 1080 but is that enough now? As said earlier particulary with so many great looking racing games arriving. So far for me GT5 looks like its going to have life like looking car models with no or little life within them or the enviroment, so each games got its own benifits and it all may depend on your taste/pref.

We have known for a while that GT5 wouldnt have weather and unlikely to have damage (I seem to recall that being the case anyway)

Maybe GT5 has lost the "soul" I personally thought GT4 had, but PRG (or FM for that matter) really has no passion I feel - yes both look incredible, but I just dont feel the dramatic urge to push myself further on MS's stuff as much as I have previously on GT4

I am ignoring the demo on purpose and going to buy Prologue when its released , and if I am disappointed then I will happily (or not so happily if you get my intended meaning) admit it.:)

Personally i would rather have a better looking car which runs at a nice smooth 60FPS at 1080P with 16 player races, than a bit of graphical showboating. Its just silly (IMO) idea to try and compare a demo of a game nearly a year a way, with a recent release even though many people will. The game has a lot of features coming and a lot of work to be done still before the release of GT5, those who have both GT4 and GT4 prologue know what i mean. There was something like 8 months or so between the two games, I expect they can do a lot in 8 months.

How does Suzuka compare to Forza? is it lifeless and bland like many said about Forza? 3d crowd? or nasty 2d textures? how is the draw distance also?

I was just going to say (msmalls beat me to it) this thread is getting a bit silly really, your comparing what is essentially a demo of a demo with a full game (PGR4\Forza)

The full game of GT5 I expect we won't see for 8-12 months (maybe longer), thats a fair amount of time to add/remove/improve features.

I personally think its a very classy demo of a demo, and the graphics are absolutely gorgeous, it might not have car damage, weather effects and all the other bits and bobs but it just oozes with pure class.

As for the AI, it actually took me around five attempts to come first place, i'm pretty bad at racers, so if the AI was much harder it would really make GT5 not very accessible for people like myself. I really hope they implement what msmalls has said with two levels of realism so that newbs like me have a challenge AND pro's have a challenge too.

Read this on another forum, just about to try it out. The race menu options are:

-Transmission (1. Standard 2. Automatic)
-Simulation - sub options: top option is standard, second option is professional
-Stability Management
-Traction Control
-Front Tire (Selected: Sports S3)
-Rear Tire (Selected: Sports S3)

I got the demo last night, the minute it actually went up :p I think it's great, but I also agree totally with what Mr. Latte is saying. It's a graphical step-up from GT4, and nothing more.

Curiously enough, there is an option for Dual Shock 3 in the game, I guess if I ordered one of them from Japan it may work with the demo but it's not a risk I want to take!
