Drum Pictures Thread

Not mine but my daughters.

Just a generic brand but it's a start for her :)

I see you got her on the nylon tips, good work. I bet it gets noisy though!

Edit: Or are they nylon?.. Do my eyes deceive me?

I think it's wood tips and your eyes are deceiving you!

I use Vic Firth 8D's, wood tip. The longer length of 5A's with the light weight of 7A's, I love them. Bit hard to come by sometimes though!

They're wood but she does have some nylon tips now too. The kits set up in a spare room and the house being older is all proper brick walls with no thin partition walls. So it ain't too bad :)

Or Sabian :p

If you want Canadian machine-made cymbals, go for it. :p

I plan on going to the Bosphorus factory when I go to Istanbul in December, going to get me some proper Turkish hand-hammered cymbals :)

Ah see, that's where I would join you - I'd love some Turkish ones or even go to South America and get some good ones there.

I only bought the Sabians because it was a pack being offered cheap with the kit when I bought it last year. Got the hats, crash and ride for £120 brand new which I thought was a bargain :)

My old reliable workhorse. It's always been a working drumkit ever since new and it's stood up to the abuse pretty well. The only original bits left are the shells, i've replaced all the hardware with new stuff.

1988 Pearl Export,
Yamaha Anton Fig Snare,
Pearl Powershifter double pedal
13" Sabian AA HiHats
18" Paiste Dimensions Crash

Let me see:
1. Lost expenses approved from the last 2 years - check
2. Space made - check
3. She doesn't have a problem with the practice pad - check
4. It's my birthday - check.

So hopefully today I should be an owner of a Roland TD6-XK if the offer's still available at Drumwright.. :D :D

Yep, Turkish cymbals rock! I'd love to go to the factory and say "little more hammering, little more . . ." :D

I think that when you're down in the £100-£200 range for a set of cymbals all of the "big 4" offer pretty similar cymbals - it's when you get to the more expensive ranges that the unique tone of each company really comes out. Paiste's are shimmering and bright, Zildjian's tend to be darker and a but less clean, and Sabian's are somewhere in the middle. But they are expensive. I paid £150 just for the hi hats :p

I don't see many cowbells:(:D

I have one, it's just not on my pictures!

Here's one of the percussion corner just to make you happy:

TD6XK ordered and it should be here in a couple of weeks. :D

Pearl throne & Eliminator pedal setup with my practice pad atm..

Paiste are definately not cheap. Paiste, Sabian and Zildjian are the big 3 in cymbal terms. I've got all 3 on my kit, all of them sound brilliant.

Best way to decide what you like is to try them out in a shop, then you'll get an idea of how each sounds.
