Hi all,

I'm looking for a DSLR to start playing with - I believe the lower budget ones are called "bridge cameras"? Anyway i have around ~200 to spend on a complete package, Camera & Memory - I'm currently taking a degree in Graphic Communication so a camera would be a pretty good investment for my work.. Have already looked at Fuji's S5700 and S6500fd, what are the pros/cons of these 2? Are there any other cameras around in my price range i should be considering?

Another question, would the built in flash on these cameras be sufficient for taking night shots? fairly close subjects - as i've been offered a job taking photos in a nightclub. If the built in flash is not sufficient is it possible to purchase a larger flash for these cameras?

Thanks a lot, Jack.

Fuji's S5700 and S6500fd aren't DSLRs.
However, for £200 you probably won't even get a s/h DSLR body & lens.

Ah ok cool, well they are the cameras i am looking at - the images they can capture are what im looking for, how are they classified?

They're generally referred to as bridge or prosumer cameras.

They are technically different from DLSRs in lots of ways, but possibly the most important difference is the fact they do not have interchangeable lens systems.

Ah i see, sorry for getting my wires crossed - i guess a bridge camera is just a point and shoot with a few more features? anyway i'm tempted by the s6500fd and have found it for £140 delivered. seems to be a lot of camera for the money.

I bought one of these just over a week ago. Excellent camera for the money. I have been getting some really good shots from it. Its very easy to use and the noise levels at high ISO's is very low. Long story short, buy one!

if you want a beginner DSLR on the cheap try looking at the nikon D40 which can be got for new at around £300 (with stock lense (which is pretty decent for a stock one)) and should give you some pretty decent results
