Are breadvan Civics really stolen that often?

Shows how stupid thieves are really.

They're not understated for a start - with big alloys, bodykit and giant Type-R badges. Around town they're not that quick as all the power is at 6k+ and its barely got enough torque to pull the skin off a rice pudding. They don't handle that well and they're only 2 doors....not exactly easy access for your gunman/cash handler/lackie.

You want a big saloon, 4-door, with a 'charger for low down slug of torque with all the weight you'll have; 4 people, gold, diamonds, loose change etc. All the tight, twisty town roads you'll be driving along means you want some good ol' low down grunt. CTR's no good for that. "Hold on lads, we'll lose them in a sec, need to wait till I hit VTEC" by which time the T5 driving coppers will be shunting you up the rear.

I can more understand them being stolen for joy-riding or parts, as they're a popular car.

You'd think these guys had never seen the sweeney :D

Seriously though, a CTR has plenty of pull in 1st and 2nd gear and as a villain with no mechanical sympathy you'd be using the fastest gear to get away and not moaning about torques and having to rev the nuts of it ;)

That said the car that seems to get away from the police is the Evo, but I bet generally they're harder to steal due to been tracker'd up to the eyeballs.

Why do they pick on the civic when the likes of evo's,scoobies, m3's, AMG's etc are available??

My gf is in the police and reckons that Scoobys and Evos are the most stolen cars to be used in getaway type robberies. I can't recall her ever mentioning a CTR getting stolen other than for the occasional joyride or something.

Down my road (in a very quiet area), a Civic Sport was stolen by hooking the keys in the letterbox. I saw the car being driven when I came back from work (i can remember no. plates for no reason :S), then I found out that it had been stolen and I saw it being driven by the robber, but this was at 11pm and I couldn't see inside the car, just saw the plate and recognized it. I even mentioned it to my mum that it was unusual to see him driving at night, and on that road going that way (towards the countryside/manchester way). However, he has now replaced it with a CTR and hes only in his mid 20's. Lucky guy for the replacement!

Yeah, you need an Audi S8, something that can shove a bit !

why do people still keep their car keys in plain sight? Like on a kitchen table or something. It's getting more and more common to steal a car this way. Mine stay in my trouser pocket about 3 feet from my bed.

I have an Integra Type-R by the way.

Yes, but from reading on CTRO, thieves have demanded for the keys in person. Keyboard warriors amongst us may disagree, but I'd rather they took my keys without confrontation. As much as I love my car and how much I'd fight to keep hold of it, I'd rather have my health.

oh right.

well that's no problem for me. My keyboard is only 2 feet away from my bed so I can just bash them over the head with it

My uncle was confronted in his kitchen by two burly guys with bats demanding the keys to his impreza. He bluffed his way out of it by saying it belonged to his brother in law who was out at the pub with the keys on him. They left and smacked it's lights out on their way :/

As an ex-ITR owner, I say....ya, rly :p

Just didn't like it at all. Duff steering, rear wheels felt like they did nothing except keep the rear from dragging on the floor and it felt lardy. And the lack of LSD is a massive, massive negative point.

I was going to make another comment, but I fear the backlash.

TBH I'm kinda hankering after an EK9 at the moment, even though the reviews I've read of them were less than favourable.

Oh, and S8 = ultimate getaway car. Although makes sure you stop for petrol on the way from the heist.
