Ripper is right. My point is, he shouldn't have to hold players down, because should it be a standing header, he should already win 90% of them, so why hold them down when you come to jump?

The problem is, even on standing headers he holds people down.

I don't think he actually holds people down a lot of the times, because of his size it's always going to look ungainly and in actual fact he's fouled far more than he fouls.

Oh, I can't disagree that he is fouled, but he has a really nasty tendency for putting his hands on the shoulders of whoever he is jumping with. It's a red flag to referee's a lot of the time.

I really think Crouchy simply doesnt know how to jump, im sure its something he didnt really need to work on when he was a young un, and he just hasnt got that skill.

I think Crouchy is a very usefull tool to have in the box. We should use him to his strengths. I am sure that if our strikers had better balls threaded through to them we would see an improvement from all of them. Unfortunately mediocre players like Pennant are not doing the job.
At the moment the whole team does not look cohesive and the football is panicky and the term "Headless chicken" springs to mind.

I was at the game on saturday and trust me when i tell you i was amazing to see the bitters in the park stand cry when our Dirk scored the winner.

Has Benitez lost the plot I ask?

Quote:
"If we play like we did against Besiktas, we can win the final matches," said Liverpool boss Benitez.

Oh dear, what planet is this guy on?

Sadly yes he has if that quote is correct. Other than Gerrard bustin a gut to get foward the team yet again played awful for long periods imo.

lets get this one back on the go then. so Alonso, Mascherano and Torres injured still. Are they bad? is Torres going to be fine for your next match because he looked well off the pace to me? Did Rafa possibly bring torres and Alonso back a game too early? if he did it seems odd considering with his normal rotation policy he might very possibly have not bothered playing them anyway, surely he could see that torres at least was nowhere near ready?

You not got your own thread? :p I'll try and answer those questions though.

Alonso's injury isn't clear yet, all we know is its a problem with his broken foot; whether its just a knock on it or whether he's broke it again im not sure, Rafa did say that it's not as bad as the first injury though. Torres's is hopefully just a reaction to his first injury rather than a tear again and Mascherano just got a knock on the foot and hopefully isn't too bad.

As for whether Alonso and Torres were brought back too early; Alonso wasn't, he'd been back in training for a while now and was fit to play last week but was just lacking sharpness to come back for a derby, it's clear Torres was brought back a game too early though.

I love the talk of rotation, people fail to see how many injuries we've had this season; when Utd weren't playing well it was because Rooney and Ronaldo were out and when Chelsea weren't playing well it was because of no Lampard or Drogba yet for us its because of rotation. We've had injuries to the complete spine of our side; Carra, Agger, Gerrard, Alonso and Torres aswell as injuries to Arbeloa, Finnan, Riise, Aurelio (Hyypia's our only defender not to have been injured) and now Pennant's (who's had a great start to the season) out for 10 weeks.

heh firstly the united thread has close to 1k posts versus this ones 180 something so either we love talking about united more or there are a lot of liverpool fans in there with us.

I also thought this one was a pretty valid none wind up merchantry type post to be honest. :)

Rafa obviously has a rotation policy in place and he's not afraid to drop big name players i wasn't talking about whether the rotation policy was right or wrong i was just wondering why when he's obviously seen torres in training he thought he was ready for todays game. every teams had injuries, united more than most this season but it's the depth of your squad that helps you deal with it.

Just trying to do a good deed hey? ;)

not at all, just shooting for some discussion. if i were feeling like a troll this week it would have been easy enough to revive the thread after the besiktas game ;) i was curious to know about the injuries and rafa's motivation with torres but you've pretty much summed it all up for me ;)

Or the United one has been going a lot longer.

Your right, it was a very valid post, I just find it amusing that a Manc fan posted it. :p
