I tend to agree with Jodie on this one, kinda. I remember there being a program about it a year or two ago (I think this is related).

Up to a certain point, to give a basic standard of living, money does make you happier. Once you have enough to avoid the basic dangers of life - food, water, shelter etc. happiness is less related to money and more driven by relationships and achievements.

So is anyone got anything to give me? :p:D

Spie, seriously, I'm wanting some memory for this iMac soon, if I come down for them, would you take me for a spin in your 911 round the estate??

:)

I don't think anyone has really said money alone can bring you "true happiness" but I don't think any one thing can bring you true life long happiness. But lots of things combined, money (living comfortably) being one of the things, can bring you "true happiness."
Syph's missus.

This thread/blog cant be for real..

Very much so, see, if it hits the right people I could be lent a top apartment in Manchester, or lent a 911!!

All of which would immensely improve my happiness, but if it comes to nothing, I haven't lost anything. I'll still have my Brabus & iMac :p:D

I cant believe you are asking this sort of thing? Is this not just "high life begging"?

You able-bodied to the extent you can work, drive a nice car, and live comfortably. Why should people roll over and "lend" you things? Just because your delt a slightly tougher hand that most of us, but a far fairer hand than many others!!

Life is tough, get out there and give it a good kicking, as best you can. Thats how you end up happy.

If you want to live the high life, buy a plane ticket :D

Nice try though, i'll give you that, but people lending you thier "cool lives" would make yours worse! Spie lends you his 911, you love it, Spie takes it back, you've experienced something awesome, you're now left with whatever you have that can't be as good to prompt you to want his 911 in the first place.

Fox is right, money = happiness, to a certain extent, sure, you need friends, family, partner/spouse/blowup doll etc.. but aside from that 1 or 2 special people in your life, money DOES buy happiness! I know a million quid would make me and my gf very happy, i don't buy into the "It pays the bills, so its all good" stuff.

Very true, but at the same time atleast I have seen it, although I have to hand it back etc...

It will probably not come to anything at ALL, but so what...It only took me a few mins to create lol.

:)

If someone were to say, lend me a apartment in the city centre, I'm sure you'd all say Well Done would you not?

:p

Hows about we subsidise your sports car? Oh wait, we already do ;)

Sorry had to laugh. :p

Pretty crap idea chappie, you make your own fortune and thats how money brings happiness imo.

If you work for it, you'll feel that you deserve it and make you feel successful.

If you were given £1,000,000 right now you'd be much happier, right?

I certainly wouldn't, I brought a lottery ticket the other day in the hope that if I won I could help people using the money (charity work etc), while I was looking at the numbers I was thinking "dam if I actually won this it would be really bad" for a second I got scared thinking "I could really win this but it's not really what I want in life, and it will most probably change me into someone I despise" also I would be scared of the effect it would have on family and freinds, say I gave a few hundred thousand to a close mate and it changed his life to the extent that he ended up cheating on his wife or her on him ?, nah, it's not good, happiness is a state of mind, do you need money to feel love ? the same goes for happiness, people are just conditioned to believe that money makes you happy, if you just had that faster car, that better job, respect by so called 'respectable' people in your local community, it's all rubbish.

look at the track record of the lottery winners, going by a documentary I watched a few months ago they researched and went back to visit past lottery winners, a hell of allot them where worse off since winning which isn't surprising tbh, you dream all your life of getting everything you ever wanted, suddenly you get that handed to you on a plate, but soon after realize that it doesn't make you as happy as you thought it would so what do you have left in life to want ?, they don't have the capacity to understand that you can gain the happiness without hoards of money so are left in despair.

Therefore you don't turn into something you despise.

You don't give your friend all that money so he cheats on his wife.

You have money which will lure a super hotty for love and then you're happy.

Because of monehs!

It depends how many things you rely on, if you rely on a lot of material goods to be happy, then money should bring you happiness, just not lasting hapiness, plenty of people are much much happier with absolutely nothing, than most people are with cars, money, expensive clothes, it all comes down to what you want, or what your told to want in most peoples cases.
