As long as it isn't an LCD, I don't see why not.

I'm a bit miffed as we don't have any CRTs in the house anymore so I wont be able to play with any games with a lightgun. :(

House of the Dead 2 with a lightgun was awesome. It was even better when you unlocked the red blood option so it the depcapitations...etc on the zombies looked even more realistic :D

Unfortunately my monitor is a TFT which I'm assuming it won't work?:(
Tempted to buy a 28" CRT TV for my uni room just to play House of the Dead.:o

just wondering, how much more powerful was the ps2 than the dreamcast? Because looking at specs for the DC on wiki, it looked very powerful for the time of release.

Not much, although Sony would've had you believe it was 10x more powerful at the time of it's release.

The PS3 had some nice lighting effects that the DC couldn't do, but if you look at some of the games that were released on both (e.g. Dead or Alive 2) there's really not much between them.

I'd say it was no more than 1.5x, if that.

It's one of the best consoles if you're into fighting games.

Some good games there! Was the dreamcast region free? Or do you have to get it modded to play the us/jap games? Also is the dreamcast widescreen and can it do 480p?

It can do 480p through VGA. I've heard some games have widescreen options as well.

You need to get a boot disc to play US/JPN games, I picked up an Action Replay CDX (cart and disc) from ebay and it lets me play US/JPN games. I believe there are some downloadable ones but apparently they don't work as well. DC-X is another multiregion boot disc, it goes for about £20, but apparently plays everything.

Out of interest is Phantasy Star Online worth getting as a single player game or is it pointless without the online part?
