Thermalright Ultra-120 temps

Just wondering what my temps should be with this cooler on my E6600 at 3Ghz? Does 28c idle and 44c load sound about right? This is with an S-Flex 1600rpm fan.

Probably about right.

What are you using to load the cores and what are you using to check temps?

My q6600 (revision B3 so hot

) @ 3ghz runs at 40c idle and close to 70c fully loaded in orthos.

That's under the extreme with 2x sharkoon silent eagle 1000rpm's fitted.

Thanks for the quick reply. Using orthos to load the CPU and Coretemp for the readings. Cores are 44/41 under full load.

In that case you're good to go! :cool:

Great temps... plenty of overclocking headroom. Just try to keep it below 60c.

Cheers! Is Coretemp the most reliable program for reading temps? I was a little worried i wasn't getting the full potential from my Ultra-120 as the base seemed a little convex when fitting.

They do tend to be - you could try lapping but may only get a 2-3c drop.

Download TAT as that's widely regarded as the best c2d temp reader.

It also has a handy stress loading option. Seems to push temps a little higher than orthos too.

I've tried using TAT but it doesn't seem to like 680i boards.

Does TAT work on Vista x64? I'm using hacked coretemp at the moment.
