Whos ditching 8800 for new rev?

Hopefully if they do come out around £135-£140 then they will be a steal at those prices.

Finally a card to make x1900/x1950 users upgrade cheaply.

Just kill off boards, they're pulling a huge profit, removing the 8600s wouldn't be a problem.
If they dominate highend as well as the middle market segment that's a huge advantage, and the bigger a lead they have there, the better their brand will be.
I'm not saying that the low-end cards aren't the ones raking in the millions, but R&D always sets out to produce the top goods.

Is there any truth to the claim that the GTX is capable of housing 160 stream processors and those will be added in the next revision?

It's probably able to contain that, and if not they'll make sure they do a die shrink. Doubt that they'll be tweaking the GTX anymore though, the D8E will be out in February/March probably, and that should replace the GTX. GTX is still leading the pack a long time after release, that's a testament to how great that card is, and it's done what it came for.

Who knows but with the new GTS having 112 stream processors and closing the gap, you might think Nvidia have something in the bag for the GTX to persaude people to part with the extra cost of it.

Cause one thing for sure is the new GTS overclocked will beat a GTX at stock. A lot depends on the price of the new GTS really.

Only a good price if this cards performance is good. We really don't know how this card will perform i will hold judgement on the price until i see how it performs.

That's absolutely true, i think it'll dominate the middle segment, i doubt it'll be better than the 640MB 8800GTS but i'd love to be proven wrong.

True, still won't beat an overclocked GTX though. For me it doesn't matter, most cards right now are good enough for my 1280x1024 resolution :P

But i just did a build for my friend using a 24" widescreen 1920x1200 screen, and really every single thing matters there, achieved a quite fine overclock and i have absolutely no doubt that extra RAM, wider bus and more stream processors helps there.
