Rugby Union World Cup (**Spoilers**)

- England (whether you think it was a try or not) were the only team that came even close to scoring a try.

 You missed the bit where SA had constant pressure on the English line then? They could probably have gone for touch with the penalty and taken the ball straight over as well, but went for the points. Most teams would have done the same, including England.

Obviously I didnt as I referred to the play just before HT in my post. Don't be so literal.

I was 50/50 about it but from the GIF it is certainly a try.

In a game that (I think "boring" is harsh) cagey we should have got points for at least trying to get to the line and not just kicking for lineouts! :p

I have extracted two frames from the video of the try at the moment the foot was in the vicinity of the line. All I have done is a screen grab, resize, auto levels/contrast and a very slight sharpen to each image.

Frame one shows the foot inside the line with a small shadow indicating, as shown by the flying piece of turf in the video (located just above the foot in each picture), that his foot hit the ground even further inside the line and was starting to rise:

The very next frame shows a shadow from the foot on the line meaning that the foot must have been in the air as it passed the inside face of the line:

That would be a try then and I will say no more about it. :)

Why are you so determined to prove it was a try? Even if everyone on here agrees with you and says that it should have been a try it's not going to give England the title.

Yeah but its obvious that ANY perceived flaw in the decision-making was going to be seized upon by the english fans, and if not expressly used as the sole excuse for england not winning, it at least seems to imply that the try would have made all the difference to the outcome.

Can we all give it a break.
Its done, nothing is going to make that try come back. Not even if you had it down to a mm will that try be allowed. Just leave it and stop trying to squeeze the last amount of pride or whatever you want out of that match.
Case closed.

looks at your location :o

I watched it with my South African brothers (yes, proper blood brothers) and some English and SA mates. We made the decision not to watch it in town because I just felt that something like what happened to Supercr0w would happen up here too.

As it was, we all piled into one lad's house and got trashed, had a barbecue and just basically had a great time. Well, apart from the result, but what the hell, we all had a good night :D
