2007 Brazillian GP - Race 17/17

Tough luck, but like said great season & many more to come!

Glad Kimi won & not Alonso & congrats to him... long time coming :)

Hamilton classed as 2nd in the championship final standings then?

Yes. Personally I am gutted Hamilton didn't win, but at the same time I have followed Kimi since he started in F1 and always thought he would do it some day.

Overall I am pleased Alonso didn't get a look in and I think the sooner he scurries back off to Renault the better. That or Toyota...that would be fantastic :p

Well Done to Raikkonen, he deserves a world championship :)

Shame for Hamilton, but theres many seasons to go :p

And biggest plus point, Alonso didn't win another one \o/

Took the words out of my mouth there mate. Been a pretty bad weekend for British sport and really was hoping Hamilton would have nailed the Championship today but sadly wasnt meant to be.

What im most happy about is Alonso not winning it, would have been a tragedy if he had:p...now i just hope he ****s off to another team so he can moan there about not being the number one driver:p.

Congrats to Kimi, if anyone deserved the championship after Hamilton...its definitely him. Wasnt impressed with McClarens race strategy, in the end the strategy and Hamilton error prone over take of Alonso cost them the title imho. But something was definitely wrong with that car from the word go....such a shame that they couldnt get it right today.

Comiserations to Hamilton :(

But

Way to go Kimi The Iceman Raikkonen :D

He fully deserves the championship Hopefully next year will be as close but with more overtaking

Daaam, that was soo close! :( Really unlucky for Hamilton there.

He really pushed and that overtake half way through was just fabulous!

Ron Dennis was so close to tears, he obviously really has passion for his team.

HAMILTON FOR 2008!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

The two main points are

1. Alonso didn't win the title (big win there)
2. Hamilton BEAT Alonso in the driver standings (equal on points but better results).

Lets just hope McLaren tell Alonso to shove his 'world championships' up his butt over the winter.

Hamilton and Kovaleinen for the McLaren race seats next year.
I think Renault will have Alonso and Piquet Jnr

Saw Lewis Hamilton smiling and was trying to think how can he after losing? Then it dawned on me, he's only 1-point off the championship. His wage will be massively increased next year (so I heard) and has 5 months off now to soak up the sun on some massive Yacht somewhere.

And he's barely in his 20's!!! Damn life is good for him

why is mclaren so crap at tactics. They should never of kept him out in china, his tyres where shot and he was losing so much time. Why oh why did they 3 pit stop him this time. It would have been better doing 33lap last stint than 3 stops.

At least he still beat Alonso on the championships :D

Hamilton can only blami himself, he lost the championship last race in the gravel.

Anyway, I am not a Ferrari fan but I think Kimi deserves it (I am just glad the Spanish git did not win again)

Exactly what I was thinking :) Although I think McLaren signed him for F1 for 3 years at a static salary (~£350k/yr IIRC? something silly cheap anyway) although I'm sure every time a McLaren or Merc executive sees him they hand over a huge wad of cash as a bonus :p

Not convinced it's entirely Hamilton's fault - McLaren really fluffed up in the last race and then there was the 40 second wierd gearbox glitch today in Brazil.

But yeah I'm just glad Alonso didn't get it and that, statistically, Hamilton still came 2nd in the championship :)

yeh if it wasn't for that gearbox gremlin I think he would have won the championship. But he should have scored 5 or 6 points in china.

He should have won it in China agreed but the team decided to keep him out on those tyres and, Lewis not wanting to question his team's logic, decided to blindly believe them and not pit earlier than they were suggesting. Some will say that was his inexperience, and that may be, but I don't think many race drivers would want to disobey their team's instructions - especially when they are tactically based. When you're in that car you are just driving it, all the pit stop tactics are out of your hands as you have no idea of the live timings of all the other cars on the track.

If that's true, its shockingly low  Hope he gets extra from sponsors otherwise the tax man, his agent, other expenses, etc must really hurt him :(

EDIT: IMO McLaren should be somewhat embarrassed by that season. Hope next year the reliability gods are STILL on their side.

True but if he was to break that contract then he would probably only owe mclaren a small sum in recompense, so I'm sure there is still room for a wage rise there somehow.

There will no doubt be an internal investigation at McLaren/Mercedes to find out what exactly went wrong. I don't think it was an embarrasment to them - Ferrari have had much worse problems this season. A couple retirements and Massa even started from the pit lane at Silverstone IIRC. McLaren, just scrapped through the season, without a single mechanical failure. Alonso retired from qually a while back due to an engine problem but on race day - not a single failure. There was the wierd glitch on Lewis' car today but it didn't force a retirement.

What a race :D. Kimi had a fantastic drive, they must have planned that start before the race and it worked perfectly. Then Hamilton went and threw it away with two rookie* mistakes on the first lap (then the gearbox trouble).

*ITV need shot for that coverage, seriously, it would have been nice to have a bit more on the battle instead of Lewis Hamilton, the story so far (with those dodgy 24 effects). Well at least they look gutted at the end ;).

For me, F1 has a strange following. I mean that in terms of how the most ardent of fans tend to support the team rather than the driver. I'm not saying it's wrong, i just struggle with the concept as for anything that is sports related i will only ever give my support to a team or an individual that is British.

Go watch A1GP then :p.

F1 is a multi-national sport, all the top teams have several high profile British engineers.
