Major service on 306

My 1999 306 (petrol) has not been serviced for some time and is approaching 60k.

I was planning to take it to Nationwide Autocentre for a major service which will cost just under £150 with my AA discount. Doing it myself is out of the question as i dont know sod all about car mechanics.

Is this a reasonable price?

Isn't your cambelt due around now as well? Swear I changed mine at around 60k

Could this *someone* else do your service for cash, perhaps? £150 for a 306 petrol service is top dollar.

just had a look at the nationwide autocentre pdf. they dont do much other than check a few things. wouldnt trust a place like that anyway, youre brave if you take it there

id do as dave said, if the someone else who is doing your timing belt has the free time, ask them to do the rest. if they can do a timing belt theyll be clued up enough to do simple servicing. i think flushing the brake fluid was the most advanced thing on that list.

This someone else would most likely charge more for the service than Nationwide Autocentre plus i would have to go out and get all the bits for him.

The service is a 24000 mile 2yr service. Most Full 12000 miles 1yr services are £80-90 here.

If i let him get the parts he would charge more as he has to shut his garage to go pick the bits up.

I'm not even a garage proprietor, but I get my parts delivered to my door!
