Dead VX220

Its the first time Ive seen this thread and I was just going to say it looked like you were relatively lucky on the amount of damage but I guess I should not be surprised they have written it off

I'd like to see that car restored, should be a bargain.

Only read the first and last pages, sorry if I missed something :o

"Police aware"?????
Have you not seen that before? It's just so that people don't call the police again for a crashed or dumped car they are already aware of. I must admit you used to see cars with them a lot more often though, I guess these days they'd be towed away by thieves quicker rather than being left there for days though. ;)

Give him my commiserations please Andy. Seemed like a nice chap. And I never knew you could get VXs in that colour before I saw it. Shame when a car like that is lost. Glad to hear hes ok.

Edit: Just read page 2. Bad luck Milney :(

I've found the exact opposite. The Elise is really well balanced and not tail happy at all, you have to do something really, really silly to upset it and get the back end out (like the time when I took a 90 degree bend a bit too quickly whilst on my mobile, still managed to correct it and continue my conversation though :D)

My old MR2 and the MGF are far easier to unsettle, I've had many more scary moments in those that in the Elise.

Have you got proper tyres on the MGF? If so I am shocked. Although I have not driven an elise myself people always claim that they need to be treated with caution etc etc whilst the MGF/MX5 etc are a "nice easy introduction to RWD". Can you elaborate?

Yep, got decent tyres on the MGF (a lot of people have the wrong size on just cos they're cheaper )

I've driven both Mk1 and MK2 MX5's quite a bit and they're definitely an easy introduction to RWD due to having the engine up front. With the MR2/MGF being mid engined they can be more snappy.
Even though the Elise is also mid engined the handling is infinitely better than MR2/MGF and it just grips and grips, even in the wet.

Maybe the people who claim you have to drive the Elise with caution are just crap drivers who like to lift off halfway round a fast bend or something, dunno  I certainly have never had any problems (bar the one mentioned above which was completely my fault)
