I've had some knocking noises recently, had the wishbones replaced about 2 weeks ago which stopped that but things still didn't feel right.
More recently and worse yesterday while driving back home from London I was getting clicking noises which I thought were the CV joint but I've just had a look at the cv joint gaiter is in perfect condition so I don't see how water could get in.

Anyway I've noticed something that has either come off or not bolted back on when the wishbones were replaced...

What is it and what does it do?
If I can am I ok to just bolt it back on?
Does anything need aligning after?

Thanks

Dunno but the bolts in yer wishbones are upside down and there isn't even a split pin to hold them on if they come loose and if they do... well lets just say it won't be pretty.

ARB droplink.

Yes bolt it back on.

Nope, bet your car handled funny!

Thanks will see if I can find a nut to fit it.

Yep handled very odd!

pinkaardvark... most people turn the bolts upside down as it's much easier to replace them and saves lifting the engine/gearbox. I think it's been discussed on MEG and is ok... I hope!

You might need to use a pry bar to lever the drop link into place but yes, it should just bolt up after that.

Done plenty sets of Mondeo wishbones with the bolts upside down, it's how the majority of the trade do it.

Managed to bolt it on. I couldn't find one of the proper locking nuts so just used 2 other nuts I managed to find locked against each other, hoefully that'll do the job for now.

There's a a few owners on mondeo.org that have had disasters from that, and with a garage that forgets to bolt on the front drop link would you be confident?

Oh I wouldn't have much confidence in that garage doing it, but I'd do them myself "upside down" all day long without a second thought.

yep looks like a drop link works with the front anti roll bar
ive got simular on me pug 306 but there carbon fibre

Carbon fibre drop links? Why? I can't see carbon fibre being the ideal material for a drop link unless you are changing them every couple of thousand miles.

Droplinks on the 306 arent aactually made of Carbon Fibre, i think they were made of cheese going on how quickly i went through them.
