Whos ditching 8800 for new rev?

I asked this in another thread but didn't get a reply, apologies for asking again. Have been patiently holding out for the 8800gt for what seems like an eternity now. Has been some discussion that the 8800gt will only be compatible with pci v2.0? My mobo is only an Asus P5NSLI, does anyone know if i'll be able to use the 8800gt?

I've seen that talk as well. Apparently, according the the official dudes who actually make the specification for the pci stuff (pci sig i believe it's called), pci-e 2.0 is backwards compatible with pci-e 1.1 and *apparently* 1.0 . And that is what a lot of people have been sayin is what it says on their website.

It might be best to wait for an in depth review of it where it's tested to make sure it work's in v 1.1 and 1.0 mobos. From what i've heard, it works in v1.1 for sure, and it's a bit hazy for 1.0.

Hopefully there'll be reviews out by the end of this week :) :D

This is just getting silly now 7 days away and no reviews or benchmarks? unheard of ?.So they are just going to launch a card without letting anyone review it hmm bit odd.

I've not been at this whole graphics card thing long, but do reviewers tend to get the cards like a few weeks before the release date usually?

Umm No. It's a hard launch which means reviews etc come on the day and there after.

If it was a paper launch we would already see a few reviews.

Hard launch is basically a big push of a product with immediate availability everywhere

Soft launch preorders are normally taken and a big media push is made before release day. Product supply may be limited with this type of launch

I bet you solid info or review appears before the 29th, though i would have expected by now tbh.Looking like it's going to be next friday at the earliest then.
If it's arriving for sale by monday then surely by friday retailers will have it so i'd expect something then at least by an anonymous reviewer.

Someone will get one early. But the media embargo (NDA) will expire on Monday
