Whats your Career?

Heh yeah i forgot you work there, what department you in again? I went for a job in Developer Services a while back but it went to an internal candidate. Got good feedback from them though so not too fussed.

Look for "Flight Desk" or "Control Engineer" and your there in Quest

Will need to do it next time i'm in a SW office. Which office you based out of then? Trying to think if there's on in East Kilbride.

I'm normally either in Shieldhall (Govan), Balmore (Possil) or Daldowie.

Yay for Portacabin Offices in Sewage Treatment Works :(

Based in Balmore Road Possil 1st building on right going into complex, although I have been down at Shieldhall a few times :D The smell of poo is rank till they put those screens on, still pongs inthe summer :D

Oh i know, trust me :( I spent some of summer working there this year. Aye so your in the main building at Balmore? They do some nice scones in the cafe :)

I currently work part-time for a company that supplies aircraft/flight crew manuals to pretty much all the budget airlines. I'm guessing the pilots on here would have seen my signature in them (if they've bothered opening them :p). It's a "temp" job, but having said that i've been there for just over a year after finishing Uni.

I'm trying to break into post production (digital colour grading is what i really want to do), but unfortunately this means being paid minimum wage to work ~45hr weeks as a runner for at least a few months. Currently debating whether it will be worth it in the long run!!

i currently work in IT support, having done a degree in computer science, i'm working towards an mcsa and I do little bits of web stuff on the side. I also work as a doorman/event security. Over the next two years i plan to go off on quite a tangent, taking a course in audio engineering with a view to either going into studio engineering, or live engineering, or maybe i'll go on a completely different route, hopefully the course will open a whole new set of opportunitys for me

My beloved OH and I have our own delicatessen. For those of you who think that running your own business is easy, or at least an easy way to make money, think again. For those of you who think that running your own deli is good, think GREAT!!!!

We have over 80 cheeses, more salamis and meats than you could imagine, great pies (including the best pork pie in the country) and we get to taste everything before we put it inot the shop. We have recently been trying out French patisserie and chocolate suppliers, so we've been eating pain au chocolat, croissant, truffles etc all week. Oh it's a hard life.

Currently at accountancy company doing M&A advisory work. Upsides: a healthy staff entertaining budget, interesting work, good prospects. Downsides: exams & long days spent in front of spreadsheets :)

Quick questions about electricians and Computer programmers.

Electricians, is there a lot of money making from electricianing? IF i was to become a electricain could i earn a decent amount then maybe start my own contractors up in the future?

Also, computer programmers is there a lot of money involved in this? If i start my own company up in the future?

Im very interested in both but not sure which to decide.....

Im a CAD Operator.

Kinda fell into it by accident and not been doing it too long (about 18months now) but i am enjoying it. Its only small scale right now as its at the local University. I do drawings for all the minor works in 2D (wanting to learn 3D soon) plus the surveyors are helping me start to run a few of my own projects as well to boost my skills.

Rubbish pay at the moment but i enjoy it and its a nice working environment. I have one days leave a week to go to college for Construction management and after this year i sould be getting a decent raise *fingers crossed*.

I've had some cracking news this morning.
I'm 49, recently been made redundant after 27 years and hopefully getting into a new career.
I volunteered myself into a Juvenile Offenders prison but even though I've recently gone through a proper induction things are very slow.
This morning I decided to ring the prison up and got through to a woman who had helped me before.
In a nutshell all the Education & Training managers had already agreed that they wanted me working in the classrooms & workshops because the feedback they'd had about me was excellent (basically if you can deal with the naughtiest boys in the country then you're in).
She also told me that they all knew about my music background, some had actually seen me perform and they hoped that I could eventually run some kind of music class :D

I'm on a real high at the moment - just waiting for the call to go in.

That's awesome dmpoole, congratulations :).

Music, teaching, making a difference in peoples' lives and earning a wage at the same time - dream job.

Why is everyone here only bothered about the money, if you look at the people making the money its because the love their job and work hard at it, don't pick your job because you might make some money as you never will with that attitude.

KaHn

Why is everyone here only bothered about the money,

Thats something I've never been bothered about.
I don't want to work for peanuts but if I can put £200 a week on the table then my wife will be happy.
Of course not everyone is in the position I'm in with a mortgage paid off and kids earning their own money.
For me its about job satisfaction and the System Technician at OCUK is perfect and only 400 yards away but I need to pursue dreams first.

They're pretty different. I'm not a programmer, so I don't know the salaries or hours they do, but I think they would probably get paid more than an electrician. I could be worng though, if there is anyone who knows better, please correct me.

Student at University of Liverpool doing an Accounting course.

I'm near the end of a long application process with KPMG for a summer internship (8 weeks). Hopefully I should get that and have a guaranteed job after I graduate.

TBH the money of pilots is nice but what attracted me about ATC is that relatively speaking you know where you are sleeping everynight.

Surely being a pilot and NOT knowing where you're sleeping (ie. your bed/her bed) is more exciting!!
