OcUK Rolling Road Day 7 - Convoy Discussion

To be honest (and I'm sure I say this a lot), I'm seriously not doing over 85 this time (or at least not over an average of 85, there may well be bursts).

I tried to keep it sane last time and people just buggered off :(

EDIT: The difference for me at 80 and at 100 is about 20MPG (I can maintain about 38MPG at 75-80), and I'm now on 6 points. I really am not looking for more, and speeding on a motorway is a) dull and b) open to the wrong kind of attention, especially in large groups.

I might get my dad to take me, and we might do some recording of the runs. Ill have to sort dates etc with my dad. We only live down the road so its no problem to meet at barthomley services.

When I convoyed with some Honda peeps to meets, typically the one at the front would do the speed limit (or just under), and those at the back would stick their toe down, overtake everyone, and become the leader, and become the one enforcing the limit. :)

This gives everyone a chance to have a blast, overtake everyone and wave their willy around for a few seconds - but the overall convoy speed stays sensible :)

And anyone who doesn't want to do this will stay travelling at their safe speed ;)

Just a suggestion ;)

Oh, and of course you need the typical disclaimer of travel faster than the limit at your own ris......blah, blah ;)

Does sound like a good idea to me.

What on earth is the point of a convoy if the likes of you are just buggering off away from the group, I think some people just use it as a chance to join the group then hoon off to show off perhaps?:rolleyes:

No you got it wrong, the RR day is for showing off :p

Doesn't matter too much anyway, me and Will took the wrong turn last time as got there last anyway :p

Perhaps the RR day is good for showing off but the actual drive down there  what's wrong with keeping together and then waving your willies at the RR day. :o

I think you need to look up the definition of Convoy your the one that seems to have got it wrong

Gutted I can't make this. Looks to be a few notherners making an efffort :(. Stupid other half and her stupid 21st on the wrong date.

OT @ Tim: Did you enjoy the i-VTEC meet on Sunday? Another meet I've missed :(

Everyone sticks together anyway. Stop worrying.

Ps: I am fully aware of what a convoy is, but I'm not sitting at 56mph on the motorway just because someone can't afford the fuel in their car ;)

Brilliant mate, the organisation was top notch. Superb roads, nice bunch of people and the pub we had dinner in was great. You've probably seen this at CTRO, the weather was perfect. http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l58/WestYorkshireman/PA210105.jpg

I hope to be going to the next one, from the back of the pack though:o I got a 'red card' for a dodgy over-take:o

I am up for joining the convoy, though I don't want to go above 85 also.

NorthWest Convoy, saitrix, Dolomite Sprint, 4 (Droitwich)

Is anyone driving from Sheffield/Chesterfield to Stoke, through the Peak District? Did it on my own last time and the roads were awesome, untill you hit the patchy fog:eek::D
