I've seen a few of these posters going up at the NVIDIA HQ ...

:p

It's getting old but still raised a chuckle :p

The p35's and x38's will work with pci-e 2.0 cards. they also support 45nm cpu's, so buy 1 of those.

:confused: I don't follow why should I buy 1 just because P35/X38 mobo support PCI-E 2.0? or are you saying I should get the mobo?

think someone has been editing posts, i originally replied to someone asking which boards will work with the new cards.

Can somebody please, please advise whether these cards will work on a pci-e 1.0 board?

I know we will all know the answer in a weeks time but I would rather sell my 8800 GTS 320Mb now for £150 if I knew that they did rather than sell it for less than £100 in a weeks time.

Some come on Gibbo, you must know???????? You've splilled some beans already so another little titbit won't hurt? ;)

Here's my take on the whole PCI-E 2 only issue:

The PCI-Express standard is supposed to be both forwards and backwards compatible, so if nVidia is following the standards correctly, the cards will work in our 'normal' PCI-E 16x boards. Secondly, the card is quite clearly targetted at the high-midrange gaming section. nVidia would be shooting themselves in the foot if they made it only compatible with the newest motherboards out.

Lastly: I'm sure the third party board makers would see the market for PCI-E 1 compatible 8800 GT cards anyway, and probably do something similar to the AGP bridge chips that we see.

Whether or not I'm being too optimistic, I do not know, I just think it'd be ridiculous that nVidia would limit a card with such sales potential.

In response to LoadsaMoney:

No, i'm waiting. Just don't know if i'm waiting for something i won't be able to use! Can't seem to get any answers as to whether it will work on an Asus P5NSLI mobo?
