Movie poster frames (Giant) ?

I've just bought a couple of large movie posters (300 and AVP) for the cinema room from play, the site advertised them as 68x102cm but thought I'd wait til they got here before I bought the frames.
They arrived today and sure enough, not even close the stated measurements they are 1m x 1.4m tall. :eek:

Well I went into a couple of shops today, one a specific picture frame seller, then a movie memorabilia one, then a B&Q type one, not one had the right size and couldn't help.
Previous to this I had done a bit of surfing and picked out a uk frame maker (eframe) that I could choose the wood, the colour and the exact frame size, perfect..... or so I thought.
Just sat down to order two, stuck in the dimensions and it errors out saying max dims are 1200 x 700..
Oh rollox

Anyone have any other ideas where to try.
Preferably a shiny black wood finish with about 25mm width frame.

There must be some sort of local frame maker that will do it, it's not that overly huge!

Be pricey, but I had one done of a similar size the other day when I had a few prints done and the maker didn't even mention the size.

I know..

Well my first stop was the local frame supplier / maker in the expensive part of the town centre all brightly lit shop and shed loads of frames an posters in there. No one else was in there so I went up to the desk clerk and said "have you got a frame 1400x100 or can make me one"
No was the reply, "we don't do them that big"

WTF !

Finally found one that does online ordering in that size and it comes out at

£118.51 for ONE frame :eek:

Lol, well try the other end of the scale ie. a small one man band that actually knows what he is doing, I bet you won't see them turn the money down!

Well that's what I was expecting, the one I had done was £100, and was smaller than yours.

You could always try and make the frame yourself, all you need is a mitre block. Then get the glass ordered and that would save you a fair bit.

im thinking DIY clip frame ?

one large piece of perspex from B&Q

one large piece of chipboard from B&Q

then a couple of 80p clip frames from asda for the clips. Jobs a good un ?

Clip frames look tacky IMO, I've got one holding up my Signed McRae painting in the bedroom. Don't fancy that "style" in here.
Will have to try a "smaller" shop, as has been mentioned..

I ended up popping down an art shop in Brighton - ended up costing £300 to frame 3 original quad posters (Blade Runner and Airplane ***

). More than I hoped, but they look quality, and the posters are mounted on a board so they don't flop about - which does look rubbish with large posters.
