is anyone else addicted to tesco clubcard points?

Best used in deals as they're worth 4 times as much as using the vouchers for money off.

Yeah I used to save mine for xmas and do my shop for free but realised I was wasting them. The 4x deals are a much better use for them. Instead I just bought my RAC cover with them for free effectively. The top cover using points is only £50 or the one I got for me and the Mrs £35.

Can you save up your clubcard points, or do you have to use the money vouchers they send you or lose the points altogether? I'm sure I had loads last quarter. Didn't spend the vouchers they sent through, and I seem to have less now.

They last for about 2 years. I know the last set they sent me out run out in 2009. I'm carefull to make sure I spend the oldest ones first :)

How odd, the ones I got ran out within about a month of receiving them. I hadn't used them, so I shredded them because they had my name/details on them. Damn!

seems u have to go instore and cant get one sent out from online, very annoying.

Plus i get annoyed when i see all the people on the forums with loads of points as i dont understand the way they get them like when they get £50 worth of points for like a £10 spend.

Its all way beyond me!

Ah they might have been vouchers for double points or money off vouchers for specific products. They usually last for a month or so. They come with the clubcard books/magazine thingie. Your actual points turned to money should last for 2 years.

You can get little cardboard ones in store that act as your clubcard until your proper one turns up, so you don't miss out on points whilst you're applying :)

No, they were definitely the money vouchers. Damn damn damn. I'm absolutely positive I checked the date because I thought "might as well chuck these and keep the points". I just assumed that if I didn't use them, the points would stay on my card. Seems like that's not how it works. Oh well, too late now :( Will make sure I keep the next lot!

The exact reason these cards are invented ;)

I had one for about 2 weeks, then I realised I would always be spending money just to get points that i could use to get money back, doesnt really make much sense

Just wait for the 1000 points on online delivery orders over £50 and shop normally for the rest of the time just tweaking your products to suit the bonus point vouchers things like 25 points when you spend £1 on Tesco bread

£51 order and thats £40 worth of vouchers to save for a holiday.

Having a baby helps rack up points thats for sure

I've got a Tesco club card and I have just started to use it more recently.

I'm totally confused about how it all works, points here, bonus points there, if you do this you get vouchers which are worth 4 x more etc.....

I suppose I should sit down sometime this week and figure out how it all works. Especially if there are savings to be had!

In saying that, there is an entire forum/thread related to Tesco Clubcard Loopholes over on MSE (Moneysavingexpert).

If you are truly addicted then you should go register over there.

You must have some odd things on your coupons since i think there taken from an average of what it is you buy. Did some shopping for someone a few times and was getting odd stuff on mine.
Discount card being my club card is also a bonus. i offer it out like, want some discount then bam i get all points

Here's something to remember which should make it simple to rememer.

Points mean prizes.
What do points mean?

Wasn't someone jailed a while ago for picking up receipts and claiming points on it, which weren't his? Be careful!

Dont really shop in Tesco's so am not really qualified to say, however one of our tutors at college (marketing class) was talking the other day about the Tesco "Computers For Schools" scheme - he was basically saying how much of a rip off it was !

Am sure he'd worked out you would have to spend £44K on shopping to purchase 1 scanner for a computer and it was something crazy like quarter of a million pounds worth of shopping before you'd have enough to purchase a PC.

He rekons its all nothing more than a clever marketing ploy thats got the public fooled - anyone else have any input on this ?
