Can anyone get this song from the (very limited) lyrics?

I was in a clothes shop today & a song was playing that I liked. I asked the bloke behind the counter what it was & he went into the back & when he came back he said that the song had just changed (to The Killers) and he can't tell what the last one was as they are downloaded from somewhere at Head Office randomly!

The only part of the lyrics I can remember is something like "pretty girl had a semi detached...." it was a guitar based song that sounds like a new indie type band.

Anyone got any clues?

Ack, I think I've actually heard this recently and should know what it is, just can't quite remember. This is gonna bother me all day. (Or until someone gets it

No I can't. I kept singing the couple of lines I remebered while I was in town but then forgot about it till half an hour ago. Also my phone was at home on charge so I couldn't even save them into that!

I've heard it too. Quick scan through the R1 playlist doesn't tell me anything.

All I can think of is James Blunt (semi by the sea - crap song) and The Kinks.

Do you know the melody?

Don't think it's James Blunt. I never listen to him and rarely listen to any stations, etc that are likely to play anything by him. Quite hope it's not, since I seem to remember quite liking it when I did hear it.

The Kinks seems more likely though...

I doubt it would be the Kinks seen as 3 of us have heard it recently on radio & the shop I was in only plays "cool, new indie" stuff & I doubt they would play a Kinks record.

Pin that Badge - Little Barrie ??

Someone on last.fm suggested this (thank you litterateur!) I've yet to find a copy\sample to listen to, but they would fit the musical style as I remember it. The lyric in it is "... a pretty woman and a semi-detached." so I'm still checking if it's the right one.

Hopefully this'll put it to rest, it really has been drving me crazy.

It's a bit more "funky" than I remember and it doesn't have the lyrics in question... So I still can't decide if it's the right one, lol.
